Idealscope Image, Need help

I'm new to all this too, but from what I've learned thus far you have a little light leakage around the 1'oclock mark between the two arrows (shows up as a whitish spot).

Others may be along shortly to provide a more in-depth review, or alternate suggestions.

A general observation I might make is this diamond is 0.46 E VVS1 which is great characteristics, but you may be able to back those down a little to get a larger stone or even better cut stone.

Hi guys,

I am completely out of my depths making a call here. It's 0.46 carate, E-VVS1, HCA :1.9 It is priced @ 1400$. Does the idealscope image indicate a good stone? Is it good value in the <1500$ range?

I am greateful for any advise you can give me. Here is the link to the product page:https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...-color-vvs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-4662133

Thanks in advance,
Jay

Hi Jay and welcome!

It's a great image, the paler area is probably due to the cut precision not being as tight in that area of the diamond but it's nothing you'd notice with the naked eye. The stone falls within Fiery Ideal Cut range so as a result, could show extra fire compared to a slightly differently proportioned counterpart.

Sledge is absolutely right you could lower your colour and clarity if you wished without visual sacrifice but that's a personal choice.

All in all, a diamond with great potential, well worth consideration.

I think it would be fine. That tiny area is not going to be an issue especially in a stone that size.

Are you only looking at very high color and clarity?

Hey everyone,

Thanks a lot for your answers, they have been quite helpful. I just played around with the search parameters, it seems like it would be possible to gain about 0.05 carat by looking at G-H and VS2.

Problem is I am quite new to the world of diamonds and my brain keeps thinking that this would not be a good trade to make as the gain in size feels small. (Although it's about 10%)

Thanks again for easing my mind regarding the idealscope image.

Cheers
Jay

It is a decent Is apart from that one area that others have mentioned above.

As @diamondseeker2006 mentioned, at that size of stone, you are likely to not be able to notice that tiny area of leakage in normal conditions because you have a solid IS with good even red saturation across the rest of the stone.

Most of us would be able to pick up a difference in diameter of between 0.15-0.2mm and above. Keep that in mind as well when you are searching.
