Okay I just got my IdealScope tonite (its so small, Garry!) and this is my first attempt at taking a picture of the stone (using the diffused lamp lighting)--it came out pretty well I think. The interesting thing is that the table looks better in the picture than in reality, in reality it looks like there's a little more leakage in the middle. But maybe the photo is more accurate and my eyes are playing tricks on me in reality? Hard to tell. I know lighting and everything has a huge part to play in it too.

Anyway this came out pretty good for a first try. The arrows are so thin!!

Will have to see what other pictures I can get that may be better.

Garry what do you think?

Ohh that's just awesome Mara...(Your new toy)

Do your Regent stone too...

Those arrows seem thin (not picking on your stone) but are very distinct for an AGS 7...

Wow the photo is Great...

Post the Regent...

Really Josh (about the AGS 7 thing)? Interesting!

What do the thin arrows mean again?

I don't have the Regent anymore, the jeweler has it! I will have to wait until it comes back home to me to snap pictures of that.

Looked at my earrings under the Scope too, they looked a little leaky around the table but not too bad. Defintiely not H&A though.

The that struck me about the picture is the seeming lack of leakage.

Thanks Stephan..good to see you back around here

CG--I know...but as I noted in my post...I think I see a little more table leakage (you can kind of see the darker areas around the table area slightly in this pic) when I view it under the image personally (without the camera lens). So who knows
2.gif
But it's definitely a cool image anyway! Best I've taken so far (and I've tried about 20 more times). Earrings have not come out good yet at all. I must be getting tired.

Can't wait to get the Regent back!

The main difference that I think you will see with your eye’s is that the stones with the thicker mains have a chunkier flash of light than the ones with the thinner mains. Thinner arrows seem to take a hit in scintillation but are are still very sparkly. The thinner mains have tinier flashes of light, but there tends to be more of them. So they seem to have more busy flashes of light. Thinner mains show greater but more pinpoint sparkle, while broader mains show broad flash fire and sparkle.

Mara you will just have to buy yourself Hearts & Arrows earrings to solve your second problem..Hee Hee..

Very interesting photo, Mara. I can see why you get such white light return from the stone. Very nice for a non-ideal. Much better than my old stone. I had a lot more leakage under the table, but I had a really large-tabled stone. Interested to see the earrings, have fun.

I was taking a drink of Pepsi, and I laughed so hard at your post that I sprayed my computer monitor.

Apologies if I've squicked anyone out with the preceding clarification.

Thank you Mara and Giangi!
Nice 2 C U 2!
I'm on holiday in Vietnam, will stay here 3 month so I have a lot of time to chat!

I was very busy in Belgium, and my mother is very ill

, so I had not a lot of time.
When I come back in Belgium, I'll buy a 3ct eye-clean (VS) lower color (K-L-...) superideal round diamond (Venus by Infinity) from Paul-Antwerp.
He is very kind and his price sounds good...
I can't wait anymore! Will post the pics...
If you have good ideas for a man-setting with 4 prongs, you can email me!

Mara, we are all waiting for other pics taken with your new tool!

THIN ARROWS

Also... it is my impression that thin arrows tip the balance towards scintillation and thick ones towards white light return, but do not have the stats or the optics to back this hint up

Help?

Classic Garry...HAHA

Nice pics...good light return, small leakage..... Non - ideal price tag.

You did what I started out to do but got frustrated with the process.

You hang here a lot?

Garry...hee!

Here are the specs on my stone:

1.23c G VS1

GIA Graded:

AGS7 Rating

7.12-7.19 x 4.08

T: 61.4

D: 56.9

C Angle: 29.9

P Angle: 41.1

Culet: None

Fluor: Faint

Girdle: Thin-Med

Interesting IdealScope picture Garry...that looks a little more realistic with some of the lightness around the table and my big flower in the middle.

Actually Valeria the thin stars (from large table and long lower girdle facets) reduce the scintillation (0.88 contrast) and increase the light return (1.03).

Mara if the cutter had have made the lower girdle facets a tad longer you would have gotten a little more fire.

I think we did this once before - but you know that your stone has a 10% bigger spread than a normal H&A's cut.
You would need to buy a 1.35ct to get the same sized stone!!!

Sweet looking pic.
1.gif
I dont see a lot of light leakage at all. And if you needed to go to a 1.35 to get the same look, then you did well with a 1.23 stone.

Hi Mara,

That is an *excellent* amateur IdealScope photograph. One of the best amateur shot's I've seen. Your stone looks very similar in optics to Chris's who also got a 1.23ct. Awesome!

Peace,

Rhino
