Hi, a newbie here. Could you help me evaluate this IS? I understand it's got leakage in the middle, and thus perhaps not an 'ideal' cut. However, I'd like to know how good / bad it is. Thanks in advance!

I've pasted it below to save others from trying to download it. It an ok IS, but there is a lot of leakage and there are some pretty strong variation in the pavilion facets (the ones that are more white than the others).

If you have time, why don't you post your wants (color, size, clarity) and budget in USD (minus any taxes) for the diamond and setting and see if we can offer any additional options. Also good to post a setting inspiration pictures and associated budget.

Hi rockysalamander, thanks for your help. I actually pulled the trigger already, and that's the image of the rock I bought for my wife as a surprise gift. I am still waiting for it to get delivered, but I wanted to make sure I didn't make too big a mistake of buying a terrible diamond for the money. I still do have an option to return it and get a new one, but I don't feel like doing it as it's just too much hassle. But who knows, I might change my mind once I learn my mistake was too big. This is what's coming to my door this week: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...-color-vvs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-4167584

C58A1D2F-F7D4-4E1D-A36F-1B1FC4E73B6D.jpeg I think it’s a nice stone for sure! Minor leakage based on the image but the human eye will not be able to tell because its extremely marginal. Regarding pricing, you paid a good price for what you got, a very rare stone! If you want to spend less and still not be able to see anything wrong you certainly can! If you want a stone that is very rare and are happy with the price, stick with it. I have attached a map showing that your dimensions are not the very best of the best of the best, but are still hearts and arrows qualified. My advise is to be comforted knowing that you have a quality stone and just decide how you feel about it once you have it.
If you absolutely wanted to go up on cut quality, stay in the same budget, and have those warm and fuzzy idealscope images, my advice would be to get a 2ct, H, VS1, AGS True Hearts from James Allen instead. With that cut quality H is not going to show color to the human eye!

PS: We all know that you have to pick what qualities are most important, and there is a price for EVERYONE. Ultimately it’s a very personal decision! You decided to have size, clarity, color and also a pretty damn good cut, and you paid the appropriate price for what you wanted...

That table is somewhat misleading, it's just highlighting proportions that are more likely to be H&A but the vast majority of diamonds in the green, including those bolded, will not be H&A qualified. H&A is specific optical symmetry rather than average of proportions.

This stone has reasonably good light performance but is certainly not H&A
