Hello All,

I need an opinion on this Ideal-Scope image of 2.02 E VS1 Princess cut.

Here is a 2.02 E VS1 70.4% 72% VG VG N 7.10 x7.00x 4.93 1.01

Thanks in advance...

Christian

I assume that if you were looking for perfect, you'd be looking for AGS 0. With that in mind, I think the IS looks nice.

It''s a nice looking IS. Not perfection, but very good.

1. ASET and moving aSET images are best for fancy shapes - but Ideal-scope is best for fast screening - this stone is past the first stage.

2. Although stones with this central leakage often get AGS 0 - I am not a great fan as you can often see the dark central zone once the stone is set.

It is an effect that comes about when the main corner to corner pavilion angle (2) is between 38 and 39 degrees. This is the only variable that causes this effect and clever cutters should avoid it - as deeper or shallower angles can still achieve AGS 0.
It highlihts the fact that aGS are still ''work in progress'' cut graders as they have no "Dark Zone'' calculation - they rely on Leakage measures to capture such glitches - and as many of you know Sergey dropped leakage from DiamCalc years ago and introduced ''dark zone'' which can come from leakage and / or obstruction. It is one of the complexities of guaging scintillation - a factor that both AGS and GIA have struggled with.

Back to this stone - you can see that the outside of this stone (which has an ideal-scope image similar to the one you posted) is ratehr green - oK, but not stunning - so I woulad want to see a Gem adviser and or an ASET photo
