Hi, blueiris, I am very glad you bumped this thread because I am very curious about plummie's earrings, too! Thanks re: my cross! I really love it! No, the ring isn't finished. I haven't figured out the center stone yet but am working on it!

Very interesting that WF may make .15 huggies as a stock item. I do love their diamonds. Any idea of price on those?

I don't think that there is any definite pricing on the WF stock huggies yet since it's still not certain that they'll be offering them. I really hope they will as I too love their diamonds. And so far, I like their huggies setting the best of all I have seen.

I'm sooooo tempted to do the custom earrings right now. I'm hesitating for two reasons: custom wouldn't be returnable, and In the back of my mind, I have wondered if at some point I'd want 20 pointers instead. I wasn't considering them because I didn't want the size of the earring to increase to accommodate them (and also, as we previously discussed. I don't want them to be too "bling-y"). But if WF can make 15 pointers that are 14.5mm (.5mm increase over their 10 point huggies), then maybe they can make 20 pointers that are 15mm? I haven't asked about that. My sense is that 15 pointers would be the best size for me, but I also don't want to be "stuck" with them if they're not exactly what I want.
 
I totally and completely agree. If I can't try on something in advance, it just has to be returnable. Too much risk otherwise. I will look forward to seeing those in stock because I do appreciate their quality.
 
I received the earrings in time for Christmas. Here are some pics:

These are very well made and the clasp is secure. I ordered 18K F/VS ideal cut and the stones are completely eye clean. I can't find any inclusions with a 10x loupe. The diamonds may or may not be ideal cut but they are definitely premium. The size of the hoop is perfect; I wanted as small as possible. I'm not crazy about the holes in back so ID is making me a new pair. I'll post pics when I get my new pair with no holes in back. DSC_2206.jpgDSC_2208.jpg

These are a great deal at around $900 less than Whiteflash and about $2000 less than BGD. I love that IDJ has a trade up policy, too. I may go with 20 pointers in the future if the hoop can stay the same size.

SO glad you got them in time for Christmas! The diamonds look really nice and the earrings look like the perfect size! I agree with you about the holes in the back, so I'm glad they're making you a new pair.

I'll watch for your updated photos when you have the new pair, and congratulations again on your new earrings.

I love the earrings! They seem like the perfect size hoops. I even love them with the holes in the back, but I'm glad they will change them for you. The 5 - 20 pt hoops would be too big for everyday wear for me. 15 pts are perfect. Thank you for the pics. The ear lobe and dime pics are so helpful to see the size.

I just bought huggies from Costco that are 3 - 20 pt. diamonds on each hoop....but not sure if I should keep them. They are I, VS1 stones, but not sure if they are ideal cut. After reading your post, maybe I should call Luann about your huggies, but I haven't had luck with them. I spoke with Luann about ordering 3 20 pt huggies, but she has not been responsive at all...very frustrating! Definitely post the new huggies you get!
 
Don't give up with IDJ. I'm sure they can get you what you want. Luann has been great! I had tons of questions and emailed her constantly. Sometimes she didn't respond right away so I had to give her a call. I'm sure she's super busy and gets tons of emails.
 
Motherof3inCT - hang in there 0r call/email again. I've had a similar series of contacts with Luann and they have been CRAZY busy leading up to Christmas and then NYE. I think starting next week, we will both have good luck and hear about our questions!

I'm sure she thinks I'm the biggest moron ever - "I want X, no I want Y, no I want Z... wait... ABC also look amazing....!" She truly does have an enormous reserve of patience!

That is better, but I am still not sure why they aren't using a straight sided back piece. It almost looks like they just filled in the backs you had. I like the way these look: http://www.whiteflash.com/diamond-earrings/
 
I showed Luann the pic of the Whiteflash version originally and that's what I ordered. I wasn't expecting the scalloping when I first saw the finished product but I now like it as it matches the front. Luann showed me other hoops designs but none were quite right and none duplicated the WF ones. I was told new castings were ordered for the new pair so I plan to look over the back part of the hoops carefully to make sure they are perfect. Lisa at WF sent me an email last week letting me know they will soon be carrying their huggies in higher carat weights. She said the new design is "slightly modified", so I'm curious to see them.
 
As long as they are what YOU want, then that is fine!!! I was just expecting the straight backs on the remade ones. I, too, am anxious to see the WF version, although I am sure they will be more expensive.

I didnt even notice the scalloping from that pic...But now looking back, I see what you and DS mean.

Check them out IRL and see if you like them. Remember, you are looking at highly magnified pics that show every little detail really up close. I'm sure they are going to be beautiful in person!!! :love:
 
I like the scalloping since it matches the diamond part of the hoop....but the straight back is also nice and clean looking. i would be happy with either style. I'm not sure if I have a preference.

I plan to purchase the 20 pt. huggies from IDJ (5 diamonds on each hoop). Luann sent me an email of Plummiecat's huggies (with the scalloped back, holes filled in). She asked me if I wanted an airline or no airline. Plummiecat - what did you get? Luann said that no airline huggies would be smaller and the back of the diamonds wouldn't get as dirty. I prefer smaller huggies for everyday wear.

They turned out AMAZING! (mind you, I liked them with the open back as well...) I'm glad you are getting what you want and that Luann and IDJ were able to accommodate your request with no fuss. That speaks volumes about their customer service!

Please show us photos when they are 'yours'!
 
Motherof3, I specifically asked for no airline. If you look at their 2ct version online, the diamonds are lifted up high in the baskets and there is a space under them. I think this makes the hoops look front heavy and unbalanced, so that is why I asked for a low setting without the airline.
 
Those on the site are open baskets and the diamonds are set high in the prongs. I'd want them set as low as possible regardless of whether they were set in open or closed baskets.
 
They're lovely!

I have black hair so the holes would've driven me nuts too - you'd have been able to see my dark hair right through them! I'm glad to hear that they made you happy :appl:
 
I do like the huggies better without the airline. Thank you for pointing out the difference to me. I plan to place my order with Luann today. I am so excited! plummiecat - definitely post a pic of your new huggies and I will do the same!
 
Thanks. I can't wait to see yours. Are you getting the 2 carats in the same size hoops? I asked Luann and she said I would have to go up to a larger hoop for 2 carats. Mine should be here tomorrow.
 
I am getting the 2 carat huggies. Luann said that the hoops would be a bit smaller than 3/4 inch. She will give me the exact measurement after she receives the cast. They will definitely be larger than yours based on your dime picture. I love the size of your huggies and am a bit worried that the larger size may be too big for everyday wear, but I have long hair and hopefully it won't be too blingy. I decided to go with the scalloped back. I like that the profile of the front and back will look the same. Do you think the huggies won't be as sparkly because we have the diamonds set lower without the airline for light? I was going to ask Luann, but I don't think it's an issue for bezel set diamonds, so I'm not really worried.

plummiecat - thank you so much for your original dilemma post. If I didn't see how beautiful your huggies pics were (even with the holes), I don't think I would be making this purchase. I'm glad your problem worked out and I hope you're happy when you receive the huggies today.
 
Well I received the earrings yesterday and I am disappointed. First of all, these are not "new" hoops as reported by Luann but are the same hoops with the holes filled in. I know this because I recognize the small discrepancies in the closures and also the enclosed form had the instructions "repair--fill in holes". She told me my new castings had arrived when obviously this wasn't the case. Also,there are still very small holes on the inside of the back hoop near the hinge. I noticed it in the pic I have posted above but I had hoped it was a reflection. There are also a few tiny pits on the back and inside of the hoops. I realize these are very minor issues that wouldn't bother most people, but the hoops are not perfect as I had hoped. I ordered these 2 weeks before Christmas with very clear instructions of what I wanted and I'm still not happy. I am very discouraged with this entire situation and I don't know what to do at this point.
 
Get back in touch with Luann and explain, just as you have here, and send them back to become the earrings you always wanted. They can set these stones into a whole new cast pair, if needed.

Don't settle for something that isn't going to make you happy because then you won't enjoy them. Diamonds are meant to be enjoyed!!! I also think that if you don't say something, you'll stew about it (I know I would - I'm a big "stew-er"!! *new word!*) and it totally will spoil the whole experience.

Hang in there Plummiecat, your ideal earrings are just a phone call/email away! STay positive! :halo:
 
plummiecat I'm so sorry that you are not happy with your huggies. IDJ needs to make sure they take care of this and you are happy. It's understandable that you are so frustrated with this long process. Call Luann back and see what she says. Keep us updated.
