I have met a jeweler who claims he only gets the best ideal cut H&A that are IC2''s. He says they are in the top 5% of all ideals.
What is an IC2?
He wants to charge me 2800 for a G VS2 .56
is this a good deal?

Here is a good link to check out by Good Old Gold on the ISee2 Project.

In my opinion, that diamond is seriously overpriced. Good Old Gold provides a ton of info, including BScope and ISee2 testing.

Here is an example. This is a .66 G VVS1. Now that is .10 bigger than yours and three clarity grades higher. Only $250 more! At the bottom of this information, you see the brillance scope with three very high grades. This is very good! Then, right at the bottom of the page, below the brilliancescope results, there is a 9.8 just sitting there. That is the ISee2 score he posted. A 9.8 is the absolute highest grade a diamond can receive from that test. What you are looking at is an incredibly awesome diamond that is larger and has a super impressive clarity, for $250 more.

Bottom line, the bigger size and much higher clarity makes the $2800 offer by the jeweler you saw for that stone, in my humble opinion, a complete rip off! While it may be an equally beautiful stone, your paying what appears to be a very high premium!

Hi Dklondike!

I saw that one to alexa. I was just worried about the BScope scores. Jon's diamonds are usually triple VH's, but the white light is really low on that puppy.

I think the moral of the story here is, Dklondike needs to do more shopping around, or use some Internet diamonds as bargaining chips!

I wouldn't worry about the high brilliant scope score. The difference between a High and Very High is most likely not even discernible to the naked eye. Both will be outstanding scores. And I don't know about you, but I put more emphasis on the color light score than the white light. Just my 2 cents.

Good point about the white and color light.

That said though, if you could get the same diamond with the higher scores for the same price, you would pick the one with the higher scores.

I think (not sure)IC2's is a branded stone,it's not the Isee2 machine that you guy's are thinking about.

Right, but a diamond is a diamond. Unless your talking 8* you can probably get just as good of a diamond at a much better price.

My understanding is that the company that developed the ISee2 project/machine leases it to vendors as long as they also agree to purchase a set quantity of ISee2 cut diamonds per annum. I've been noticing some of the stones that GOG carries now have ISee2 inscribed on the girdle.

I'm sure Jonathan can address this better than me though...

Great tools here to do your own price sloothing. If you plug in your spec into the search by cut tool, you can compare pricing in well cut diamonds. Then you can play with changing the color, carat, or clarity

For $2800 you can probably get a great .7 carat
