IBM to use blockchain to track Diamonds

Hi all! Haven’t posted in a while.. we got married, finally; and dealing with some life changes as well as a beautiful project with @Rhino in the works! Anyways, came across this article which I found interesting.... unfortunately, it doesn’t give too much information but interested in what the “industry” thinks?

Interesting article! I’m also curious what the trade thinks of this application as well. IBM had partnered with Stellar to support the banking industry, and that has been going quite well.

However, they’ve been building their own proprietary platform, which may be for this purpose. While it states a consumer can trace their stones via QR, would be ideal is if the entire ledger is fully public. That would offer great transparency for the industry, imho.

They did not explain how blockchain would solve identification task( problem) of correspondence between a real diamond and the grading report( or record in blockchain ).
