Help! In the jewelry store now, and thinking about a:

1.32 ct
I1
G color
70% depth
70%table


I can't see the inclusions hardly at all. Should I risk going I1? Price will be around $6000 mounted in a solitaire setting. Thanks for the help.

You need to focus on cut, that is what makes it bright and lively.

Agreed...cut is the most important factor. But I wouldn't go below SI clarity for an engagement ring.

how do you know the cut is excellent? Does it have an AGS report?

GIA cert.

Think I've changed to a 1.09 cut, K color, Si2 for $5500 set. Table and depth 73 & 76 respectively. Thoughts? I know its tough without pics. Excellent cut GIA as well. Thanks.

how much is the setting, that sounds way expensive.

I got to thinking the same thing. The setting is only $600, so I think it's too much for that diamond. The salesperson I worked with had me all over the map and I just lost track of what I really needed. I left without purchasing, but did put a deposit down just in case.

I now am certain I need at least a princess cut, SI2, 1 ct. or more (with bigger being better), I color or better, and an excellent cut.

My budget is $6,000-6,500, but I could be pushed to $7,000 for the perfect ring.

Still split on solitaire or Halo setting. If the diamond is on the lower end of my 1ct. scale, I would like a halo setting, but a bigger diamond is fine in a solitaire setting.

Any Help for someone who is now THOROUGHLY confused?

get a high quality 1 ct, put it in a halo. I prefer that over pushing for a 1.2 K or I1.

An I1 clarity diamond of any shape might not be bad looking. After all, diamond rings never do stay perfectly clean when you're wearing them. I decided that I didn't need totally eyeclean.

But with a princess, the corners are very susceptible to breakage. I would avoid any in princess that looks like it might have inclusions or feathers or whatever out there in the corners.

The Whiteflash stone has already been graded for light performance by AGS but also has images provided by the vendor that confirm that it's a good performer. That isn't to say that the other stones recommended , or the stones that you viewed in person, don't have great LP, you would just need more information to confirm it. I feel more confident purchasing with additional information, but if you trust your own eyes, then that's going to be the most important tool.

Christina has found a beautiful diamond. It's graded by ags for light performance as ideal. You won't find a sparkler diamond anywhere. Definetely not in an average highstreet one. The stone is visually very attractive. And specification wise it's in a nice safe place, I Vs1 will be lovely and white and eye clean without paying too heftier premium. It is also a nice size for the carat so it will look every bit it's size.

Regarding table sizes- this stone has what I would say was a medium table. Not tiny but not large. Table size is a personal preference. No right or wrong. This stone has a lovely table so dong worry about that.

I would rather have an super sparkly one carat than a dull two carater. A sparkly stone will always like more significant than a larger size thats badly cut. Because its got more light return so brighter and whiter looking. Any girl would drool over this diamond in any setting. But if you want something visually larger then do as suggested and add a halo. failing that Wf has an upgrade policy so if your gd wants a bigger stone some time down the road when the budget allows you can upgrade.

only AGS grades cut for princess stones. I think you are confused with GIA "grading cut" for princess stones. GIA doesn't. Even if the diamond comes with an Excellent Symmetry and Excellent Polish, it means nothing and doesn't guarantee it looks nicer than another GIA princess stone with Good Symmetry and Polish.
