I1 clarity....never, ever...or sometimes?

Hi,
I would appreciate some advice.
I want to get some large diamond stud earrings but my budget is limited.
I have found two uncertified stones at an affordable price with photos and a video....they are just over 2 carats each G colour.......but are I1 clarity. I a, told (by a reputable vendor) that the inclusions are mostly white and should blend into the background when mounted. I am also told that they are well cut and have good brilliance.
Any guidance or wisdom from diamond experts would be great. Thanks.

With diamond earrings you can be a little more relaxed on colour and clarity.
Diamond clarity is assessed by x10 loupe, this is not what your unaided eye can see. And given that the polite viewing distance of earrings is a few feet (or 1.5 metres in Covid times) it is unlikely that inclusions will be noticeable. Carbon Spot inclusions to be avoided as these are more easily seen.
I think you should check the performance using the HCA tool, it’s more important they sparkle well and it’s the quality of the cutting that determines that. So I would say you can drop down on colour and clarity but not cut.

The one on the left doesnt look like it has much flashing going on under the table. I assume you dont have any angles for
these stones since they are uncerted?

Thanks...I will check the return policy. I live out of state so may have some issues with tax and duty though if I want to return them.

My Q is ...why aren't these 2ct stones graded by GIA?

I'm not a diamond expert, but my engagement ring has a 1ct center stone that is G/I1. It is very difficult to see the inclusion, even when you know where to look. I have been very happy with my stone, and I am glad that we went with the larger size with the visible inclusion rather than a smaller size with better clarity. I am probably in the minority here on this.

I will add that if I notice someone wearing larger diamond studs, when I can see inclusions or a hint of color, then I know they're real diamonds. Otherwise, I kind of wonder if they're fake.

If these are from the vendor I think they are
I also brought in a much smaller pair and was told the same by the rep. The pictures were clean and bright.
I didn’t have the same impression at all when I saw them in person.
They were not in house graded I1’s, even.

If you want 2ct in each ear and have a limited budget - something’s got to be comprised on.
I just came on to say from my previous experience - I’m skeptical they look as good as the picture implies.
Once again - comparing to my (one) experience of their listing pictures.
You won’t know till you see them.
But unless something is hidden under a prong - I don’t hold too much stock in them looking clearer once mounted. Or blending into the background. What does that mean- a crushed ice look? If that’s what look you are going for, win=win. Go for it.

I agree that these don't look clean or well cut and I am nervous that they will just look super included in person.

Why would you want to buy two 2ct diamonds that don't have GIA certs?

Putting clarity aside, they aren't a good match as a pair. That, in and of itself, is already a no for me, regardless of the clarity. Move on.
Often it is better to get something smaller of higher quality rather than something larger merely for the sake of being larger. While you are looking for "large", you are selling YOURSELF short. Don't do it.
