I would love ur opinions on these two Asschers!

Hi again, I have done a bit more exploration and found two more diamonds. The first is an H color which I am a bit nervous about but have been told that as I am putting it in a solitaire yellow gold band with white prongs, it wont be a problem. I would really appreciate your thoughts on a) the stone and b) the wisdom of an H color versus a G (or an F as in the second diamond)

Because I was wondering about the difference in colors I went downtown today to a wholesaler who I found on Yelp with good reviews. He showed me the following diamond ( bad pics I know). He didn't know what an ASET image is and the Sarin he sent is greatly lacking in info compared to the Scanox that Yakutiel sent. The diamond is an F VVS1 2.02 C. faces up a tiny bit smaller than I would have liked but is well priced. He says go for quality over size and that the yellow band will make the stone look even more yellow...Now Im really confused!
Anyway here are the not good pics/ reports that I have on this one.

The one the video appears to have some large leakage zones and the lighting makes it impossible to tell anything else.
Its a pretty good example of trick jewellery store lighting.
You an see where it catches the led spot lights that are aimed to shine over your shoulder as well as down at the case.

edit: after watching the video 10 times I'm split on if it is obstruction or leakage but there are large dark zones that don't flash very fast.

Thank you Karl. i have read p3 angle article. It makes sense but I would never know how to spot it myself. Would it be correct to say that looking at the Scanox report, the images of teh back of the diamond on the right of the page, the arms of the windmill should join at the center?

I don't like either of those.

The first looks like it's leaky and dark, with lots of the facets black at the same time, rather than having facets switching on and off and 'walking across' the stone as it was tilted.

The second one, I'd agree with Karl that the lighting is terrible and it doesn't perform that well, being hard to determine if the dark bits are leaky/windowing or not.

I think you should keep looking for one that really blows your socks off!

Search for Good Old Gold's YouTube channel - they have some great videos comparing Asschers on there, which is helpful in educating oneself on the good and bad cuts out there!

I read this thread earlier when I didn't have time to respond and was just coming back here to say this EXACT thing! Picking an asscher (or emerald cut) is HARD!! But Yekutiel hooked me up with a gorgeous one and I know he'll do the same for you. Articulate to him what it is you do and don't like about the stones you look at. And, in the end, don't let US sway you from a stone you love.

As for colors, H was too tinted for us. We could handle G, but could still slightly see the warmth. It's a great "sweet spot" though for price and value though. This time around we were looking for a bright, white diamond so that's what we went with. I've developed a hankering though for a warm, champagne colored OEC (maybe the W-X range) in rose gold, so we'll see what happens with that one day! My all-time favorite example of this color combo was waity-katie's

I have and its beautiful but sadly Im not a fan of fluorescence
