I was running some errands this morning and I drove by an independent B&M. They have a reasonably good reputation, and carry Hearts on Fire, so at least some of their stones are high quality.

They must be having a sale, because the sign in front of the store is promoting solitaire rings. A 1ct will set you back $1995 and a 2ct can be yours for a mere $2995. Hmm...I wonder what those stones look like?

I''d imagine they would not come close to meeting the quality we expect around here! They''d have to be low color and clarity, maybe L and I1 or lower and possibly clarity enhanced.

There’s nothing wrong with low end goods if that’s what you want but even at I-2/L or with clarity enhanced stones a 2 carater for $3000 is pretty cheap unless there are some other serious issues as well. You could always go into the store and have a look at one. Let us know what you find, looking is usually free. My guess is that you will discover that you prefer the more expensive stones and that the real objective of the ‘sale’ is to get you into the store in the first place. Don’t be surprised if it looks like a sugar cube.

Brown sugar or white?!!!

I'm not looking...I just posted the sale prices because the sign reminded me of an ad for a car dealership. The one they use to get you in the door is definitely not the one you walk out with!

I know what my 2.43 cost, and believe me, I'm sure they're not selling anything that looks like my RB for $2995. If they were, I'd go in and snatch them up to start my own business!

I did see some very milky diamond studs at JCPenny before.

AggieTexan,

I''m very familiar with 2 of the independent jewelery stores
in BCS. In fact I may be up there next week, I''ll drive by
and see if it''s the one I think it is. If so, yeah, those
stones we would all gag over!!

BTW, love your stone.

bebe, who were you thinking it may be?

Even though I''ve had my ring since August, sometimes I still find myself staring at it because I can''t believe it''s mine!

The B&M I saw the sign at was in Houston (Galleria area), not College Station. The only time I''ve been to a jewelry store CS was to look at some Pandora''s bracelets.
