Very good news indeed! I''m really thankful you can feel good about your diamond!

Great news!! Just to make sure the new stone gets the seal of approval before you keep it, what are the specs of the new stone?

Wow, this outcome could NOT have been any better! Fantastic!

After all is said and done, assuming you''re happy with everything, I hope you tell your jeweler what a great person they are, and how much you really appreciate what they''ve done. You''ve got a real treasure there.

Wow RadiantGirl! That''s awesome news! Really happy for ya!

radiant girl, mad props to your boyfriend. Sounds like a swell guy.

RAdiant girl, that''s great!!! Your story reminded me so much of my own with the asscher I made my fi getr me when we went ring shopping (the original stone). It was WAY too deep for an asscher - I was afraid to bring it up to my husband (we had only been married a month when I said something) but he was fine with me switching it, and the jeweler was great about it too. I''m so glad that you guys are having a happy ending! Oh, and also like you, I also regretted not just letting my husband get me what he originally wanted to get me, which is the 2 ct round that I have now ;) Sometimes they really do know best, but we must never let them know ...

I can''t wait to see a pic of your gorgeous new ring - I just love radiants! Congrats!

Yay, that''s fantastic news!!!

Oh my goodness, I can only imagine how you must have felt before talking to your boyfriend--I am so happy that he is such a great guy and took it so well! And your jeweler sounds amazing!! I''d definitely tell them how awesome they are next time you see them and spread the word when the topic comes up of how fantastic yours is. That really is very impressive--if they were anywhere near me, I''d shop there just because of your experience!

Wow! What a wonderful happy ending - well, almost ending! You of course have the rest of your lives.

I know your ring will be doubly sweet once you FINALLY get it.

Congratulations.

I just love a happy ending, but moreover, it''s a beginning to two great relationships ( ie you and your jeweler and you and your fiance). Bravo!

RG-I am so glad everything worked out so incredibly well!!! You''re a lucky girl!!

You must be the most patient girl I''ve ever met...he has had the ring for a year and hasn''t purposed yet???? You must be a saint, because I''d be jumping up and down to get that ring and start planning our life together

I''m so glad for you! What a relief! Your boyfriend sounds like a sweetie to boot.

Thanks, everyone. My boyfriend is absolutely the best and I''m incredibly lucky. Am I allowed to say who the jeweler is on here? Because I would love to give them props and recommend them to anyone who lives nearby.

The specs of the OLD diamond:
.91 ct
VVS2
F
73% table
78.7% depth
VG/G P/S
5.77x5.02x3.95

The specs of the NEW diamond:
.92ct
VS1
E
68% table
68.1% depth
VG/VG P/S
5.53x5.46x3.72

I wanted the jeweler to keep some depth b/c I didn''t want it to look too glassy. And it''s not at all...it''s absolutely perfect! But there was definite darkness in the bottom of the old one and the new one looks so much brighter! It is a much more square than the last, which I like. The color went up to an E, which may pose a problem b/c my sidestones are still F color (trilliants), but they might change out the whole ring too. The jeweler was out yesterday when I went to look at the diamond, so we haven''t had a chance to talk about that yet.

I could have sat there comparing them forever, but it gets a bit awkward with your boyfriend and saleslady staring over your shoulder. I''m jealous of her because she gets to look at diamonds all day long. Maybe I should change professions.

I doubt your F''s will be a problem. And yes, you can give props to your jeweler!

The jeweler is Mednikow in Memphis, TN. They also have a store in Atlanta but they are based in Memphis. They are perfectly lovely to work with!

Wow, I''m quite sure that jeweler just earned a customer for life. It''s nice to see a retailer take care of their customers especially when they are dealing with something so personal and life altering as an engagement. No one should have to convince themselves that they like their ring. It should simply make you break down in tears when you first see it.
Exactly. Fortunately in today''s world we have an atmosphere that allows for more open dialogue about our rings. I can''t even imagine a time when you didn''t chose your ring , or perhaps your diamond, OR at least have the reassurance your significant other knows what kinds you like. This isn''t to say we should choose our ring/diamond, only that it is nice that we have the option. Its just great we have informed significant others.

And for some of us, who do not care about what it is, what it looks like and only that it is from our loves...ignore my previous statement. Its just great that we can have open dialogue about these things.

Take your future fiancee''s response to your crisis as a positive thing! not only did you get what you wanted, but you also go to see first hand how he reacts to something so important to you.

Kudos.

New specs are much much better, no red flags and if you liked it in person better it''s probably a nice stone. F color is super icey white. I used to own an F radiant and it always looked very icey.

Props to your jeweler for being so cooperative through all of this.

aww, so nice to hear the great outcome!!

i think you should be able to talk about anything when it comes to your husband or future husband that is. i''m so happy to hear his reaction about your doubts. that shows how much he cares about your concerns and happiness. that is the best part of your entire story.

you two will lead very happy lives together when you''re able to put everything on the table.

on a side note tuesdays post kinda freaked me out too.

i can never imagine changing my stone w/out telling my hubby.

So glad to hear that everything turned out well! As far as the F sidestones, you have nothing to worry about, that is not enough difference to be noticeable.
