first they should have a full sarin or ogi report, and the comment area, they should note if the inclusion breaks the surface and on the plot(in 3 D) if and where the inclusions are dark,it should be marked with a black color instead of red with these information it sure would help the consumer.

Some of this is already done - AGS gives ave. values for major facets, but not every facet...surface incusions are indicated in green in GIA plots (although this may not be visible at 10x)...some incusions which look dark from one angle are colorless from another, and to further complicate, inclusion crystals can be other colored.

Within 6-12 months the data on both GIA and AGS certs will change - probably/hopefully for the better.

You could always write into the labs...I'm sure they would love to hear your suggestions.

I would like all labs to add crown and pavilion angles to their certs.
Many say they do not want to be accused of prinitn the small Sarin errors etc - but AGS have been doing it for nearly a decade and it does not seem to have hurt their reputation.

but we need to remeber that the labs are between a rock and a hard place.
Thier clients who pay for services are not consumers.

Good point Gary,
An analysis of the large trade databases Rapnet and Polygon clearly indicates that large amounts of obviously mediocre to poorly proportioned stones are hiding behind the perceived credibility of a GIA report.

One wonders where these stone will be certed once GIA introduces cut proportions, With HRD announcing they will open in the USA things could get interesting.
