You can''t tell if a diamond is ''eye clean'' based on the pics off the website. These pics are taken at a 30-40X magnification. The best way to determine whether it is ''eye clean'' is to call Whiteflash and ask.

Thanks for the quick response I will send an email but thought I''d check opinion here while I wait for a reply.

Since the marks are so obvious in the 40x and idealscope I''d imagine I could see them without magnification. Hence the low price of the diamond considering it''s excellent cut.

The GIA report says surface graining not shown. What is surface graining on a diamond with excellent polish?

Anyone have any other comments on this stone. Seems it could be too good to be true.(so probably is)

Thanks

I agree that you''d have to ask WF directly about the eye clean issue. However, as you said, it is a good deal if it is, and since it has been there awhile judging from the certificate, my guess is that maybe it is not eye clean.

what do you see in the 40x mag and the IS that is so horrible? i see one tiny black mark and some scattered white crystals.

40x mag is huge, that is like blowing your diamond up 40 times the normal size, that is not remotely close to how you view things on a hand. i think i should just rename myself broken record because i think i have said that 3 or 4 times this week.

i would actually think that stone has a very good chance of being eye clean. it IS an SI2 and it looks like an exceptional one at that.

Surface graining is basically when the growth patterns of the diamond crystal show up in the polish just like a bit of wood grain. You''ll never notice it.

I''m betting it''s not 100% eye clean because of the darker inclusion in the middle of the table near the cutlet. However it isn''t a very large inclusion so depending on your eyesight it may be eyeclean for you!

Looks like a great SI2 to me and a good possibility it is eyeclean. Contact WF and ask. That diamond looks like a fabulous choice to me, I would pounce on it if WF gives it the thumbs up for eyecleanliness!

Oh one more thing and I said this in another thread but inclusions under the table are actually easier to visually hide because of all the sparkle that tends to come off of the table area. My old stone had a small black inclusion like this one and I could only ever see it by holding it up to my eye and looking closely for it. Otherwise there was no way that my eye could focus into the stone...there was too much going on.

I highly doubt you''d be able to see that inclusion with your naked eye without magnification. I have an I/SI2 cushion, and it is eye clean without magnification.
