My bench is in the process of moving, so I took a diamond to an upscale b&m to have a simple setting done using a stock Stuller bezel solitaire.
They have set two stones for me in the past few years that were done beautifully.
This is what they had waiting for me today:

I told them it was totally unacceptable...the crown is set lower than the bezel and the bezel itself is a mess.
I didn’t know what to do, so I left it there for them to redo. But given that they made this mess the first time, I can’t imagine how they could make it right.
I just want to get my diamond back, but what am I liable for in this case?
He said they have one bench person, he has been there for 20 years and he is very good. Omg.
I asked the salesman if he would put something that looks like this in the display case and he said no.
Do I pray they get it right the second time or call them tonight and tell them to “step away from the stone”?
