I'm the exact opposite of the folks who hang out on this wonderful forum, in that I know NOTHING about jewellery - NADA. And I need help!
The honest truth is, I'm not really into jewellery and I've never really been attracted to it. However, I now find myself in the unenviable position of having to find the best engagement ring that I can afford (more on this later) in the shortest possible time. (I'm getting engaged next month).
I would tell you more about the girl that I'm getting engaged to but words wouldn't really suffice here. (not making this up!)
So moving on to the ring - what do I get?
Basically, my budget is highly limited (well under $1000 preferably but upto $1000 is ok) and I'm looking for something that is very simple, yet modern and elegant. No big rocks here - just something that signifies a commitment to marriage. I don't even know where to start looking for a ring. I was directed to Sams Club and I went there and I found some affordable rings however even the selection there was sufficient to overwhelm me since I don't know what's nice.
Is there anything out there that represents the things that I'm looking for in an engagement ring - Modern (not traditional and stuffy) and elegant (cannot be harshly modern....and must retain those classic elements that are timeless) and simple and classy. A ring that looks good on its own and on a person's finger. (she has very slender fingers)
I'm really big into high value products - clearance, closeouts, discount stores etc. but I don't like to compromise on quality and I'll pay a little more if the value is there. However, I'm not into going all out even on occasion like this - and my wife to be is exactly the same and would dissaprove of anything excessive.
Any recommendations/suggestions?
Sorry if this is too much but I don't know where else to turn to advice! Thanks in advance!!
