Unfortunately, a setting like this (that's well done) is going to take up a lot of your budget unless you can find something second-hand. It's a lot of metal and a lot of diamonds. If you want to go down that path, that means a smaller diamond- which is absolutely fine, if it's what you think she wants.

What kind/style of jewelry does your girlfriend usually wear?

ETA: The Robbins Bros. ring doesn't list any info about the diamonds, so I'd pass unless you're able to get it.

Is a vintage-style like this definitely out? If it's a possibility, you might want to look through the rings on that site, because they have a lot of rings that are already made and within your budget. No. 1081 here is a similar setting without the colored stones.
