I only like pastel (light toned) stones. Am I weird? Please show me your pastels!

This is one of my unset potential future projects. I arranged spess, lavender sapphires, and kornerupines around an aquamarine and topped it with a zircon. PXL_20210614_014510559.jpg PXL_20210614_014814088.jpg

they are all gorgeous, but
can you give more details on the sapphire ring, please?
if you’ve got a thread with more pics of it - please point me the way

I never did start a thread for her. She’s an antique Georgian ring and it’s embrassing how little I know!

Here are more pics:

Great settings. I love pastel tanzanites, though they may be classified as "low/poor quality".

Thanks, yes they definitely are, but I really like the lighter colors. I won't buy them if they're included or not well cut though.

I love both pastels and vivid colour stones. Here are some of my set pastel stones, which include tourmalines, spinels, sapphires and chrysoberyl. Photos in white and yellow artificial lighting.

I like soft colors for my jewelry which is great (or maybe bad) b/c it tends to be less expensive :Up_to_something::lol:

Me too! I don’t care for the rich colors that are so expensive. I appreciate it on everyone else but not me. I’m so pale..The softer colors go better on me.

That shield halo setting in the middle is something really special!

Thanks! That shield ring was one of my customised projects which did not turn out as I expected. It was a combination of my inexperience interpreting CAD and with milgrain; sounds silly but I did not expect that additional "bulk" to the ring. However in the end, it turned out fine since I now favour larger rings as I age.

Oh, so you were originally planning to have a narrower halo with milgrain on the edge?

Oh my gosh, pastes are so beautiful! These aren't mine, but a company I follow on instagram posted these. Adding these out here in case any PriceScopers are interested.

Yes and maybe I could have done it without the inner row of milgrain. Plus I wanted the shape of the shield a bit more regular, rather than a bit pointy and curved at one corner. It felt a rather big when I first got it but now, the size feels right for me. 20210618_143040.jpg

It's beautiful. And funny how rings that seem too big at first tend to feel right after a while. I think many people experience that!

I like icy colours rather than pastels, and the only icy stones that I have are my EC Aquamarine and a pair of step cut Morganite traps that I intend to set as a 3-stone ring (please excuse the fingerprints on the Aqua), all cut by Jeff W:

I feel like the minority here who isn't into rich, deep or vivid colors. Not only do I like light tones, I also enjoy a bit of grey (my favourite color). Ice/steel blue? Lovely! Dusty pink? Perfection! The best part of this is.... lower competition? And sometimes lower prices ?

I'm currently obsessed with pastel purples like lilac, lavender and periwinkle. I had a laugh with my husband the other day because I saw a grading chart for tanzanite and I'm most drawn to the lowest quality ones, right at the bottom. He can't complain.

Are you a pastel lover too? Show me your pastel stones so I can oogle!

Tanzanite-Color.jpg

Such a bad graphic. Color has nothing to do with quality! It can influence demand and therefore price, but color and quality are completely unrelated. I personally LOVE pastel colors and so do many people, and this thread shows why.
