I really love your inspiration pics though! What type of stone will you be setting? Do you have a metal preference?

Do you think the oval shape looks ok with baguettes. Sometimes it seems more flattering than other times. I've seen them look good in a mix of melee and baguette halo, but my oval is too chubby. And I'm trying to avoid halos I think.

Are you thinking baguettes over traps? Is that a cost issue or just a preference? The diamond world is unknown territory for me...

I had considered those but as coat is a factor I probably couldn't go for them. I had a crazy idea to use a few French cuts and tapered baguettes. Eac side would have two tapered baguettes with the tapers pointing into the stone. Them have to French cuts on either side. In my head it looks amazing by I think it's pretty in 2d but I don't know about it wrapping down the finger.
You're right DS even though I am prepared to spend some, half moons large enough to balance out the center would be too much for this project.
Prepare for terrible pic. (The left side is more the proportion I imagine )

Ha ha, I'm not even sure I know what french cuts are! I like your image - far better than any drawing I could do. What would happen if you turned the tapered baguettes around so they tapered out? That might do away with the whole design sensibility of your drawing, and if so, forget it! I was just thinking that it might be a way to achieve the aesthetic of your tapered baguettes (didn't know they even existed btw) while coming close to the proportionality of the other rings you've posted?
That said, I swear I've seen that design idea in antique rings - maybe not as much art deco, perhaps earlier?
