Ok, I've been working on this for about a month now and I need some opinions! I haven't spoken to anyone yet about it and I figured this may be the best way to show it. She wants a solitaire diamond style ring and I wanted the only one in the world like it. I still haven't completed changes yet but I do have CAD drawings of it, which are slightly bulky on the metal portion due to the way they draw it. The stone is purchased already completely eye clean: 1.70ct round, si1, color I, super ideal cut, 7.78x7.74x4.66mm, 1.01-1, excellent in all categories, Depth 60.1%, Table 57%. I think she'll be happy with that portion of it! lol My question is, what should I do about my design on the ring? Keep it where I'm at with it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

And I kind of based the ring design from this ring in particular..

Shank width - 2 mm

Diamond table to finger height - 8.96

Bezel height (away from shank) - 0.4 mm

Consider making the prongs close around the diamond like little claws. See here.

It's a lot more dainty, and less obtrusive. It lets you focus more on the center stone, which is the whole point of a solitaire setting.

Think about how much the single diamond on the side protrudes, in case she wants to wear bands right next to it. Will the diamond rub against the other band? Will she care? What kind of band would she want to wear with this?

Of course you know what you are designing, but consider shaving down the metal on each side of the pave. Less metal means more sparkle.

However, keep in mind that the link I posted takes you to one of the best custom platinum hand-forgers out there. Not easy to copy. It's just to illustrate. ;)

Good luck!!
