I have found these stones on the riverbed, one is 10 carats and the other is 2 carats, they are cuttable, they have hexagonal shape, I asked an appraiser he told me they are precious, but couldn't exactly tell what they are, I did a research on internet and i couldn't found yet,I did a specific gravity test and sometimes it shows sapphire specific gravity sometimes not. I would appreciate any kind of help.

It could be river calcite maybe. Try posting it on the colored gemstones forum. In what geographical area were they found?

Thank you whitewave I will post it on the colored gemstones, few things got me interested about this stones, the first is that I live in Macedonia the country which is on the top countries in the world for ruby mines, another thing is its shape, and few others.

If you are in an area that is known to produce corundum, they could be white sapphires. They could also be quartz. My guess is not calcite as it is a bit too soft to have survived the erosion of the gravel bed. They could be topaz or any number of other minerals. A good specific gravity reading should eliminate most of the possibilities.

Yes Texas Leaguer ,thank you for the advices.
