Hi, I''''m new to this website, so I don''''t know if this post belong here or not but I need some help. I''''m looking for an anniversary gift for my girlfriend of 3 years. So I was browsing/comparing the prices and selections at Fred Meyer and a couple of the online stores. The first ring is from Fred Myer. It''''s around 800 bucks including 3 yrs insurance, but I believe it''''s more like a bridal set ring (which is fine with me). The quality on this 1/2 ct is not that great; it''''s a I2 or I1 an the clarity is a HI. The other two that I saw were from online sources. One was from myjewelrybox. This one cost around the same price range, but it''''s a 3/4 ct and it''''s a 3 stones ring. The good thing about this is that it is certified by IGI. The quality is I1 and I. Which is decent for the price. The last thing I saw was from the website called Primestyle. This ring is also a 3 stones ring but it''''s 1 ct and VS1-VS2 clarity and the quality is I. The price is 900 bucks. The price is great, but it''''s not certified or anything like that.

Right now I''''m really confused on what ring to and need some help/ feedback from you guys. I don''''t know should I go with the online vendor, which offered great quality but I don''''t know what the ring look like in person. Or should I go with Fred Myer and know what I''''m getting for my price. Thank you in advance!! Let me try to post the other 2 pictures of the ring I found on the web.

At the top of the page to the right is a "resources" link- look at the vendors. These individuals are reputable and there are many many success stories.

As far as the cert you mentioned I would steer clear of IGI. Look for diamonds that are AGS or GIA certified.

I have used Whiteflash.com with great success, other great vendors include briangavindiamonds, goodoldgold, signed pieces, bluenile and James Allen. Erica Grace has some gorgeous antique designs. If you are looking for quality vendors that are listed on this site are the way to go.

The cut of the stones is the most important consideration when looking for a beautiful stone (so it should
be part of your "quality" formula). In other words we can not help you with your choices without knowing
the cut criteria (depth, table size, pavilion angles and crown angles - to mention a few) of the stones. The
stones that you are looking at will probably not have lab reports so you will not be able to get this information.

So...as much as we would like to help, you probably wont get much feedback here

. I think the best thing
we can do is like what iwannaprettyone said and advice you to pick a trusted PS vendor to select a ring from.

Make sure they have a good return policy so that if you order it and dont like it you can still return it and try
something else. If you want opinions on rings (we need links or pictures) we would be able to give opinions on
styles but probably not the quality of the stones without them being graded.

Hi,
Personally, I would never purchase a diamond ring from Fred Meyer. I buy my groceries there all the time

and often browse their jewelry section. Right after I bought my AGS E VS2 stone for my pendant (stone was $900), I decided to check out comparables at FM. There was an ungraded stone for the same price that was supposedly a J SI2 or I1 and it was terrible. No sparkle and looked visably yellow. The sales gal told me that she very much recommended buying from their store because she purchased her own wedding set there. . .she showed me her ring and it had no life and not only did it further emphasize their lower quality stones, but also that their staff isn''t well informed about diamonds.

Try one of the recommended vendors that have been suggested in the responses above.

This is another ring at myjewelrybox that is certified and 3/4 ct for about 800 bucks also. I''m not so sure about purchase something this much over the internet. So I really need all the opinions I can get. Thank you in advance. I"ll post another one one for primestyle.com.

So this one is also on the web. It''s 1.10 ct, but not certified. It''s listed as VS1-VS2 and I in color. It''s only 900 bucks. This seems to be a very very good price. I just don''t know if it''s going to be the same when I receive the ring. Thanks again for all your feedbacks. I really do appreciate your time and effort.

I like the look of the second setting better...but I cant comment on the stones.
