Okay ps''ers......I have been searching high and low for a good deal on Maggie''s Pia since I tried her on 3 days ago. And I didn''t want to go thru an internet site (even the reputable ones) because of my previous dealings with ordering a gown via the internet (more about that later). So I was spinning my wheels calling lots of stores and they are all bound by agreement to sell Maggies for msrp at least. Fine. She''s $800 which when added to alterations, bustling, shoes etc...it gets up to over the $1k mark.

So, I just called the bridal shop where I was able to try Pia on and I asked if they ever sell thier samples. SHE SAID YES. I couldn''t believe it. I asked if she would possibly be willing to part with Pia and she SAID YES again!!!!! I am shocked. She said she can sell it to me for 10% off msrp PLUS she''ll throw in alterations for free and a tiara of my choice (

). I am so excited right now!!!

She''ll still take a 50% deposit on the gown so I don''t have to cough up all the dough at once either!!!

THe ONLY problem........and it seems silly to even write this.........but she''s pure white and not diamond white like I wanted

Should I even bat an eyelash over that? When I tried the gown on a couple days ago and everything about it was fabulous (and I didn''t know that color at the time) but if I were to order it brand new, I''d order it as DWhite. See what I mean? What should I do here? Is one shade of white worth paying an extra $300 for????? ayiyiyiyy. Help!!! Would you? Should just RUN to the store now and deposit it??? OMG I''m so excited and in love with this dress

.

I''ll be normal again in a few hours (or days) but I want some feedback from you all if possible first :)

Hmmm...if it were me, I''d go with the white and the discount. How much different is the diamond white? I''m not very familiar with Maggies...

It''s not too much of a difference........but I could be thinking that to justify my choice y''know?

I have green eyes and dark brown hair and my skin tends to be (in the dead of winter) somewhere between light-medium complexion......with a litte more color I could do it......but diamond white always seemed safer to me I guess.

I''d definately do it! It''s such a great deal--it''s white on white, right? The only way I wouldn''t take it is if you had your heart set on diamond white with pewter accents, since the accents will look different monochromaticly vs. 2 colors. I think it''s beautiful and a great choice, though!

How much different are those 2 shades of white? Have you tried on a diamond white shade?

My instinct would be to get it! If you tried it on already and thought it looked fabulous, and are saving hundreds of dollars, why not?

sweetpea~ its white on white I''m pretty sure. I was debating ordering a dwhte w/ pewter accents but couldn''t find an example of a maggie dress w pewter accents (in fact, I was going to to to another salon today to test that out) but I have a feeling it''s white on white. and it really was so beautiful as is. i don''t remmeber sayign to myself "hmmm......i love it except for xyz" there was nothing wrong with it at all. and it probably would have turned out that I wouldve ordered dwhite on dwhite anyway.....so i dunno....

psaddict~ yes, i am saving about $250-$300!!! i don''t really need a tiara tho....so maybe i''ll take it and sell it? or give it to my moh to wear so she''ll be distinct? hmmm.......maybe she''ll let me get a veil of equal value instead?

so, it sounds like a yes so far??? i''m literally putting on my socks so i can leave to go try her on again!!!!

has anyone seen a white w/ pewter accents on a maggie? have a pic? maybe that WOULD be enough to change my mind if i saw it......

A few hundred dollars for a slightly different shade of white? I''d absolutely take the white one, especially if you liked the dress when you tried it on. You''ve got yourself a great deal there! I''m sure once you actually have the dress you''ll feel better about the color. It''s a gorgeous dress!

The website one may be pewter on white, although I''mnot sure. I wish they''d write which color scheme was on the model.

xapora~ your''e right :) thank you for that....once i finally HAVE her...I will love the gown exactly as she is. when i put her on i didn''t tear up or anything.........because i actually started DANCING (y''know, the really corny kind one does when they are so excited but aren''t technically dancing?? lol). she just sparkled and sparkled and.....seriously.....it''s a lovely gown.

psaddict~ i forgot to mention that while i''ve been trying on maggies these past few weeks, i''ve never once been able to tell the shade of white w/o looking at the tag lol. i guess if pure white looked that bad on me, i''d know it when i saw it!!

go for it! you obviously love the dress, you''re getting a great deal---who cares about shades of white, it''s white!!

I also bought a sample and had to decide quickly. And I''m thrilled...feel like I got a gorgeous dress for a fraction of the MSRP--so i get to feel like a princess in a great dress while making a good financial move at the same time..

well ps''ers, the shop closes at 7:30 and it''s an hour away from me so I should get hoppin''. i''m so excited but so nervous too!! when i get back home tonight i could very well have my wedding gown!!! that is such a great feeling :) and i know it''ll fit and that there will be no waiting for shipments or worrying if i ordered the right size etc!!!

i was surpries that this gown actually fit on me!! it''s an 8 and when i started out, i was a 12!! i know maggie changed her sizing charts so maybe pia is an older model? cuz i don''t see HOW i dropped that many sizes lol. i have lost 12 lbs since november but i never imaginied an 8 would fit! the lace spread in the back isn''t really wide either. (i have this thing with the lace spread in the back.....i like it in the medium range or i feel the gown can CLEARLY been seen as too big or too small for the bride lol). i''m strange.

oky......i''m procrastinating. i''m going to post this, check to see if anyone has posted more advice, and then GO try Pia on again :)

THANK you all so much for your quick responses in my time of "need" lol.

janinegirl~ wow!! thank you for that....it makes me feel even better about my option. i didn''t know buying a sample was even done (in the way i did it anyway).......so yay!!! the shop offered me 10% off msrp....do you think that''s a good deal? they threw in a tiara (don''t need it) and free alterations (bustling, steaming, sewn in cups only...i don''t need it hemmed)?

well in my case i got about 60% off, but keep in mind the MSRP was almost $5k!! 10% sounds good in your case, and you can always push it and ask for more. BUT having alterations, tiara thrown in is a great perk and saving. I''ll probably have to spend an additional 400 bucks on alterations for mine..

Since this is the dress I'm freaking out over, I figured I'd put a picture to the obsession!!

You can't tell in this picture but those diagonal lace tiers are actually filled with sparkly swarvoskis and beads so it just glows :)

Same with the back. It looks best with a 2-pt bustle (i think that''s what it is called) so the middle tier can be displayed along with the outer hedge of the hem (all totally sparkly too1!!!!)

Yes, sweetpea...I needed to GET OUT and GET IT :) AND I DID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I''m so discustingly excited!!! FI and I went out to dinner at the Outback (yum!) afterwards and I had a drink to celebrate. I just couldn''t stop talking about it (without giving details of course!!!).

Here''s the very very very best part: I literally sped all the way there and then half-ran/half-walked into the store lol, presented myself to the owner and was then happily escorted to the changing room. And then out came the dress (I wanted to jump up and down when I saw it again). And then on it went. But..............turns out I was wrong and in my blinding love for the gown, just THOUGHT it was perfect.....but it wasn''t as it was a size 12 (I had just assumed it was an 8, but that must have been one of the other ones I tried on). So I stood there while she laced me up and was blabbing on and on about "lace spread" and whatnot and then she says "looks like you won''t have a problem with that honey". I stopped blabbling and turned around in horror as the lace-ups were so closed together that they looked all bunched up! I thought I was back to square one with finding a good deal again etc....

Well, then the owner, Donna, looks at me and sees my horror/sadness etc and says "y''know what....I''m going to honor my deal to you anyway". I couldn''t believe it (I''m saying that alot tonight). So, ladies and gentlemen of PS.....I am getting a BRAND NEW PIA instead for the SAME deal!!! And she is still going to include alterations/steaming/bustling etc! I think she must have really liked me because she also said she''d sew in some bra cups and an extra layer of tulle (to make it poof just the slightest bit more) to make the dress truly perfect :)

I literally hugged Donna when I left there tonight. I deposited for sure (duh).

So, I have my Pia .

Oh, and I had the opportunity to order a Diamond White but after trying on another Maggie dwhite dress, I decided my skin tone can hang with the pure white quite nicely :)

So, howz that for an ending?

Beautiful dress! I'm so glad you're excited about it and it's awesome you were able to get such a deal!

Now, a word of advice: Don't look at any other gowns!

Ebree~ That is exactly why I launched into another dress-hunt; I simply tried on a MS gown just to see how the bra (that I was buying for my FIRST dress) would look under any dress at all. Turns out, that Maggie was not just ANY dress at all lol. Since I won''t be needing a longline bra with Pia or a crinoline, I won''t be trying on anything but my gown when I visit it at the shop from time to time.

I want to go veil shopping now so I can see what styles look best with my dress. ooooooh, Donna is going to be seeing lots of me :)

Wow, sounds like you had some good karma today! Two points: One, gotta love that woman, she is really being great to customers...I hope you can recommend her to friends in the area, she sounds like she is great to work with...

Two, I was going to point out that if that white looked good on you, it doesn't matter what it is called, just as long as you liked it on your skin!

Congrats!

Thank you, chellebelle!!! It was a great story, wasn''t it??

It was even better living it :) Funny, you and I seem to have shades-of-white-issues today! Have you decided what you''ll do now? Is there time to try on an off white to confirm your choice?

I know I''m sitting here right now really wondering if I should have ordered the off white instead of pure white. Aiyiyiyiyiyi.......it never ends with me lol.
