Hopefully the thread title is self-explanatory  I need a rose cut diamond because I am ring shopping!!! :appl:

What I am looking for: 1-2 carats, warm is fine (just not bordering on canary territory), fairly eye clean.

I don't know what I am doing wrong, but when it comes to finding OECs, OMCs, transitional cuts, there are tons available. Rose cuts seem to be scarce in the 1+ carat range. Any help in locating one is much appreciated!

Rose cut have no bottom to them so they are usually sold as spread size. I think a one carat spread is like half carat weight or something like that. One of the vendors may write in and let you know properly. I think they are usually sold in antique rings, maybe check with some of the antique vendors like Erica Grace.

That diamond is crazy beautiful! JBEG has a rose cut available in a ring, but it's quite large and visibly included. I'd like one a little smaller and cleaner. Maybe it is worth contacting them to see if they can locate another!

Um, have you checked LoupeTroop and DiamondBistro?

I sent an email to jbeg... Fingers crossed!

Antique roses tend to be very old and in very old pieces. Most of them have either already been broken up and recut or they are significant enough not to be sold.

New rose cuts seem to be found mainly in India, although they seem to be showing up in the US more often as well.

I like rose cuts because they look watery, and water will play a very important part in my ring's design (I am a bit of a hippie and chakra/aura/earth elements are a high priority in a forever ring). Hopefully one comes my way that doesn't need to be kicked out of it's antique setting!

Oops, should clarify. I need a loose diamond.

Um, there may be a very clean JbEG rose-cut in a temp silver setting listed on DiamondBistro... nothing antique or vintage except the stone.

I'm sure Ari could source a loose rose cut diamond for you. The pic I posted was just to give you a visual of the types of rose cut diamonds he carries. ::)

Thank you! I've had some very nice correspondence with Heather from SingleStone so they will be my next contact!

Nice. Could you share with us whether the rose cuts are graded by any labs or graded independently? Rose cuts are pretty tough to find and it would be curious to know.

I am sure people buy loose diamonds from Singlestone. They just obviously have a source for them since they set them in rings frequently. I doubt they are lab graded, but that is just a guess. It wouldn't matter at all to me as long as the vendor was trustworthy.

I will certainly divulge any lab analysis, though I second the sentiment that as long as the stone is coming from a reputable dealer certs aren't a huge priority (though certainly interesting to have if they happen to be included in the price). I have purchased a diamond from jbeg before and don't remember if they had any in house certs? Certainly not GIA or anything, not that I expected that.

So I've been revisiting SS, and yowza. Now I remember why I never went beyond inquiries before. Their pieces are seriously expensive. It is clear their diamonds are exquisite, but for my budget probably not possible ;(
