Please bear with me as I am a "newbie" to your board.
I went looking at engagement rings/wedding rings and loved a Tacori ring I saw.
I hated the price.
I believe the ring I liked was part of the Serendipty collection.

Regardless I have several dilemas....
1. my fiance cannot afford more than $3k including stones
(less would actualy be better)
2. I want an emerald cut emerald as the center stone
with diamonds as the secondary focus.

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!
I am guessing having someone make a "copy" of the ring I like is the best way to go but have no clue where to begin!!!

I am in the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida area

in advance, many many thanks!!

Tacori isn't such an easy line to knock-off, especially the Serendipity collection because of the scalloped diamond pattern on the side of the ring shank, by the time you pay to have something similar made that you're not going to be as happy with, you may as well buy the ring that you want... We recommend putting your money into a center stone that you want and a simple traditional engagement ring and then upgrading the setting for an anniversary in a few years.

thanks for the input!

I am open to any and all other suggestions.

It wasn't so much the engraving ect. that I loved about the ring, it was the simplicity and delicateness of it.

The style I saw was for a princess or emerald center stone, on each side were tiny baguette stones. The band did have engraving to it as well as a heart desing underneath the stones settings.

It was the engagement and wedding ring together.
The wedding ring was squared out (if that is a term) to follow the line of the engagement ring.

Not guady or overdone, just sweet and simple.

Any suggestions?
Or directions to point me in?
I am open to all options.

and once again, thank you!

I'm afraid Niceice is correct - custom will cost you too much to copy that style. However, look for some possibilities at either Tradeshop.com or do a quick search for the word 'antique' (if that is more your taste) through the Pricescope archives.

If your budget is $3k, I second the suggestion of just focusing on the center stone. Custom or even any type of filigree or similar Tacori like setting will be pricey in platinum, and even if you spend $1k on the setting, that only leaves $2k for the stone which doesn't net you a very large stone. Not sure what your size wishes are etc...but sometimes the settings require a powerful stone, depending on the design. So you may be disappointed to get a small stone and find that it doesn't work in a replica or a similar setting.

I would throw the whole lot of the $$ into the stone and making sure you get something great now, set it into the typical white gold setting for $200 and then upgrade the setting a few years down the road to be what you really want. The stone is usually what people would put most of their $$ in.

My two cents.

I can't help with the setting, but I do have a suggestion for the stone. If you want a natural, untreated stone that looks like an emerald, but costs much less for a nice clarity and color, consider getting a tsavorite (or tzavorite) instead. Tsavorites are rare green garnets from Africa. I have one and love it.

With the money you save, you might be able to get the setting of your dreams.
