Princess: You don't need help. Your a woman who has a date! Just pick the color that brings out your eyes best, keep those girls hidden, and brush your teeth and hair and you're going blow his socks off! :praise:

The driving lessons went well! I even started on a hill(-y driveway, but it was steep!), and I only stalled at traffic lights TWICE! Which I count as a success, clearly

In other news.. pretty bummed at the moment.

Looks like after DH is done w/ grad school his best job prospects will be right here in the Bay Area.. I was rather hoping to move somewhere - y'know, affordable?

We were going to start looking for houses late next year, but even though he's getting generous offers if we stay out here there's just no way we can comfortably afford a decent place on a decent plot of land in a decent area for a few - probably several - more years. Which also nixes our Grand Plan to have a house before starting a family.

Bah.

I may wish I had never sad this when the middle of winter is here and I'm sick of the stuff, but I can't wait for it to snow. I want a snow storm to come so badly! Am I crazy?

OOH LA LA!

Somewhere in Berkeley there's a company that specializes in stylish riding gear for women :Up_to_something: .

Just put our first offer in to buy a house. Such a weird feeling - anxiousness mixed with nerves and lots of cautious optimism. Fingers crossed.

Don't be. Our city is so bloody expensive, costs over 800K for a half-decent matchstick box house. Doesn't bode well for someone with expensive taste  We are offering well over 60K under asking, so a good chance the offer will be thrown out the window.

We should hear back tomorrow afternoon.

haha at least you wouldn't have neighbours butchering things over your balcony ;)) Good luck!! In this economy - and given those rates - I imagine they'll take all offers seriously, and 60 under doesn't seem unreasonable to *me* (whatever that says :halo: )

Prices - I hear you! We'd be looking at about 800k too to ascend to "not crappy" so.. yeah, not happening anytime soon ;(

Puppies didn't make it in the litter we were planning on for the kids. They don't want to take the chance again I guess, so since they breed, they are looking for a new home for her..I'm trying to find out if she's good w/cats, b/c maybe we could get her instead. JD wants to breed later on, and we couldn't w/her, but it doesn't bother me, we could get another later if we wanted to. She's a beautiful dog, will be 3 in January, and great w/kids..just depends if she won't try to kill my cats and if JD is agreeable.

Steal/Strawder/redrose - the date was fantastic! Great conversation, good food, just all-around fun. I hope he calls again...but I'm feeling pretty confident that he will. I'm really busy so I have no idea WHEN I'll be able to see him again, but I definitely want to.

SDL, that's awesome for your hubby! I'd keep it (but I'm obsessed with Harleys, so take that with a grain of salt).

Indeed! What an awesome perk, eh?

This deal is probably not going to happen. The sellers are being very unreasonable, so we'll give it one more push and then walk away. *sigh* I truly did fall in love with this house. I suppose it's not meant to be.

I am moving this weekend. Yeah, I know, 'but Renee didn't you just move' yeah. I did. My roomie lost her job and ended up moving in with her BF so I am leaving my big old place and downsizing. I am actually kind of looking forward to it....just wondering how my furniture is going to fit. After this lease is up, I am going to buy. It is time. LOL, over the apartment life. So, yeah, I am trying to be as proactive as possible, considering I accepted a date this Saturday night (have to be out of my place by Sunday) with a guy who works with the local ABC station...should be fun...or at least I hope. LOL.

Princesss- girl, I love it. Working on the big response.

Bahahahaha, OMG, girl we are so alike. I would totally accept a date for the night before I was supposed to move. Stressful, yes, but so worth it! BTW - it took me forever to figure out you probably meant ABC as in the TV channel. Here an ABC store is a liquor store, so I was trying to figure out why anybody would call it an ABC "station". Ugh. Mondays.

kama, that's too bad about the house. I wonder what their malfunction is. A better house is waiting for you!!

Princess, so glad the date was a great one! Renee, good luck on yours! (and moving the next day-sheesh! Sending some extra energy!)

Dragonfly, I bet that was a sight!! Yikes! Not sure what happened w/the puppies. She said she did everything she could and only one made it. There was a lady in line ahead of us for puppies, and I'm not sure if this one will even make it. Poor things. I don't think the female will work for us..we have 2 house cats and she said she's not sure how the dog would be around them. She said she would trust her supervised around them but..that doesn't sound too promising.

Packrat - I would make very very sure that those puppies didn't have parvo. If they did that means the mother probably will end up carrying it and you won't be able to take her many places that allow dogs b/c of puppies who won't have been immunized yet.

What's parvo and how would I find out? Seems to be a really good breeder, not a backyard breeder..they show and do trials w/their dogs.

Kama, I think you're somewhere near me, like GTA? I think prices are going to come down in the spring. This area has not yet realized that prices are too high and not in line with the economy. Hang in there! I find around here that owners sometimes put their houses up just to spec out what they might get, with no intention to sell. Hope you find the right house at the right time.

Packrat - Parvo is a disease that attack's a dog's immune system. Generally puppies are the only ones affected and it will kill entire litters yes. It doesn't matter if a breeder is reputable, if they happen to have a neighbor's dog that gets/carries it, or if their dogs encounter it it can be something that affects their entire program. You should be able to ask the breeder and get an honest answer in return. We had gotten a cocker spaniel puppy from a very experienced and reputable breeder. What she didn't know is her neighbor's dog had gotten parvo (a great dane puppy) and died a week before we got our cocker. The entire litter (Three siblings) all died within two days of each other. I felt fortunate in being able to get the puppy back to the breeder before she passed, so she could spend her last hours in a space she knew, with her mother. The breeder was heart broken and her entire program had to be put on halt as she tested her dogs and tried to figure out a way to cleanse her yard. Once parvo has been around it can linger in the soil for years and years. It's a very serious disease. It causes the dogs body to basically attack itself. They cannot eat or drink but throw up and have diarrhea constantly. I think it's a 50/50 chance of survival? If the dog is old enough? Many times they do not survive. If they do they are carriers for life, and they tend to not lead a very active lifestyle. Imagine a person who has survived Scarlet Fever... many are weakened for life. That is how a dog is after Parvo.

Packrat, I think OUPearGirl's BF's puppy had parvo - you should be able to find her posts. It was really awful, and they were really lucky he survived.
