I just wanna say -- the random comments thread

Ok. I must get this out.

We're in the process of buying a house right now. I am TERRIFIED of this purchase, and my husband has no fear. This terrifies me more.

I know the feeling. Just wish you a nice house. Since your husband is unafraid, he'll probably be able to look through all the paperwork and check everything. Sometimes anxiety paralyzes you. I am sure things will be fine.

Strange observation... A woman enters a restroom, there are only two cabins, one is free with the door open, the occupant of the other one is just coming out... Why on earth every woman would choose this very cabin instead of already vacant one?

That's what my husband and I are like so I know how scary that is! I even had to do all the research and preview all the houses. I told him to sign here, here and here.

There's a cricket somewhere in my kitchen and he's getting on my nerves.....

crasru - here's my thought. The already vacant ones are scary... they might be gross. The ones that have just been used have been deemed usable by someone else... and that someone else flushed.

Elle -- congratulations on buying a house!

I don't like seeing back to school commercials already. It's TOO early!!!

I feel like crap... this week is horrible... and I just want to curl into a ball and escape everything.

Check out the paint job on the van across the street from the Sbux I'm sitting in. It's got lightning bolts, flames and what look like sperm. But i think the sperm are supposed to be flames too. Maybe.

I'm bored and my FF is working late because people in his office can't do their own work. In order for my SO to finish his work, the folks under him need to get their stuff done in time. Now that deadlines are approaching, and people still haven't picked up the slack even after my SO has offered his help, advice, etc. things still didn't get done. Now he has to stay late and help those other people meet their deadline so he doesn't miss his. I understand this is apart of the work force and his job...but WHY CAN'T PEOPLE DO THEIR JOB THAT THEY ARE PAID TO DO!? Sorry for the vent. Just having him be more than a little while late because other people can't manage their responsibilities that they are paid to do really irks me today

This may sound like total heresy, butt...

I can live with the occasional visible panty line. :wink2:

Ditto! Especially since to me, I'd rather know someone is wearing underwear than thinking ewww...they're not wearing underwear! Not to mention...thongs aren't supposed to show, so...if I see it and know you're wearing one...what's the point?!

I have The Thong Song in my head.

I am also squicked out because I am going to be working on a project in a few weeks and just found out that there is someone else working on the project who had a bit of an intense crush on me and handled it rather poorly. He now makes a lot of passive aggressive comments that, if I address them (kindly, of course) he says, "It's a joke. It's a bit!" and then rants about how people who don't find things funny have humor deficiencies. (It should be noted that he sends mass FB invites that say, "You are cordially invited to go F*** yourself" ; then if folks decline, he writes, "Really, to all the people who decline, go f*** yourself for real.")

So, yeah, that's going to be fun, especially b/c it's a creative project , so this sort of thing flies around all the time.. I may just have to keep singing The Thong Song to get through it. And see who has VPLs, just to distract myself.

Yet, if this is the worst thing that happens to me this year, I'm doing pretty well.

Jas--Yikes! He sounds like a treat to work with! He sounds like this guy, but less funny because you know him in real life -->http://www.27bslash6.com/overdue.html

I am really excited to start my new job in two weeks. I just got an email about our faculty orientation, which is for everyone and not just the new faculty members. It included a brochure with an enormous schedule of really interesting sessions for which we can sign up every day. I'm so excited! I'm used to a week of sitting in the auditorium and listening to a very slow agenda of the same old thing. :appl:

Yeah, Haven. Aggressive humor. Boo.

I am jealous of your orientation! Sounds awesome!

I have had a pain in my arm for about a month and hope it's not a blood clot. It doesn't feel like a blood clot. It's probably a blood clot.

One of my co-workers is the worst. Major attitude problem with everyone and everything.

Our director contacts us and asks us to rank preferences for 6 upcoming conferences. Obviously I got the one she wanted, because I was wise enough to make a compelling case for why I should attend that particular conference (fulfilling roles and duties that are not in her purview). She responds after he assigns us that she would rather go to the conference that I was assigned. I'm sorry, did your boss not just give you an assignment? As far as I am concerned, it was a courtesy for him to even ask, but totally unnecessary.

Then, suddenly, she has a personal conflict and can't go where she is assigned. She forgot. (again, this leaves at least 2 other conferences that she can attend). She doesn't want to go to those, tells our director as much, and basically says that if she doesn't get her way, then she doesn't want to go to any. WHA???? Did you just tell your director that you would prefer not to do your job???

Unbelievable.

If she gets fired, I will not be sad. I hate when people are unprofessional. Totally unacceptable. Especially when you are impeding me doing MY job, for no reason.

Jas and Trill, I didn't realize you both worked with cranky toddlers. I kid! But seriously, your coworkers sound like whiny kids. The only thing worse than an actual whiny kid is an adult acting like one.

I spend a lot of time coming up with plans for my life. Good plans, bad plans, backup plans. When I applied for the job I have now it was part of a plan. That plan was to work for this company--which is a very innovative and well-respected company in its field--then when I'd learned everything I could here I would take a step back and work for a small company. The plan sounds good, right?

Well now I'm ready to take a step back and have been looking at small, local companies. I've had two interviews and in both interviews they have said "What you do is very innovative and interesting, however this is a small company and it's going to be years before we in a place to do what you do". Positioning myself so that it would be impossible to work for a small, laid-back company wasn't one of my most brilliant plans.

Ever since seeing Lady Gaga a few weeks ago, I can't get over the following points:

1) Girl is freaking 24!!! Like, recently 24. Definitely makes me think about where I was at 24, LOL, obviously no where near her success...
2) She went to Julliard, did anyone else know this? My good friend Lauren divulged this information to me immediately before the show started and I was like 'wow. Real, true talent is a rarity these days- girl has it'.
3) I think there are parts of me that are still curled up in the fetal position from the opening band at the show. No lie, I thought the band that opened for Hole was epic, pretty much didn't hold a candle to this one....

I digress. Just something that has been on my mind for the last few weeks. Random but hey, that is the name of the game. LOL

NEL, you know, things usually work out the way they are supposed to, which means that your perfect opportunity is somewhere on the horizon. I'm certain that your careful cultivation of skills and innovation are going to land you an opportunity to do something that you really love and enjoy... though of course it's frustrating to wait for everything to come into alignment! Best of luck in your search!!! :wavey:

Did I mention that I wouldn't mind if my co-worker was fired? Yeah, today would be a good day... (s/n, I am the type of person who likes 99% of people, it takes a lot for me to be done with you, and I am DONE with her. But, I am really nice to her anyway. Pretty sure she hates me all the more for it.)

Renee -- You know, if you really listen to LG sing, she has a good voice. She's a kook but the girl can sing.

Haven -- what courses will you be teaching? Starting your new job sounds like fun.

Ever post...er...say something that was misinterpreted and then it was just too late and it takes on a life of its own and then you're like screw it, who cares, but it nags at you cuz now people think you're a bimbo?

Then you're like "Screw it. I'm a bimbo."

Anyone?

Got my period, lasted a whole week (unusually long). Went away for a day or two, and came back... going on day 4-5. Hoping this doesn't become a recurring problem again. A few years ago, I would get a light flow every two weeks... which eventually became constant bleeding for up to a month at a time. That was when I started BCPs (maybe at age 25?), which then went on to wreak havoc on my hormones. *sigh* Sounds like I need to go to the doctor and figure out what is going on. :blackeye:

I just realized that I have to move out of my house in two weeks. I don't know where we're moving, where we're storing our big stuff and I haven't started packing.

Commence freaking out.... NOW.

Trill - sorry you are having problems.

April - I have roughly the same amount of time. I don't know what to do.

I just received a $15k raise :appl: :appl: :appl: My Sr. Director recognized that my salary wasn't on par with my peers (I did not know this!) and they bumped it up
