I have been way to sick to go to the dr, too sick to even want to go to the hospital. Temp 101 right now but chills overnight something terrible. I ache like I have never ached before. Runny nose, nausea, vomiting for hours, swollen gums, headache. I can’t remember the last time I was so sick. I even got the flu shot. I realize it’s possible it’s not THE flu but dang I’m sick. Anyone else?

April Baby - I had the flu plus stomach thing for last 3 weeks. Ended up in the hospital last week for three days after, like you, vomiting for hours. At first they thought it was sepsis given high white blood count and being tachycardic. But got better with IV fluids, zofran and toradol. I got started on antibiotics but stopped once they confirmed not sepsis. I got the flu shot too. In first two weeks, I went to doctor once I felt I could- got cough medicine and an inhaler. Helped some. What helped a little was a cool vaporizer, lots of water, popsicles and tea. And Tylenol and steamy showers. Until I got the stomach part.

Not a dr but it sounds like flu to me. It was miserable. Hope you feel better soon! I feel your pain!

Knocking on wood and fingers crossed . Last time I had the flu which had to be 15 years ago, I felt like I was dying. Sure makes you appreciate your health when in the throes of agony!

Please make sure you are taking in fluids and if you are vomiting, take in very small amounts frequently. If you still feel horrid and aren't getting fluids, please call a friend and have them take you to the ER. You will get IV fluids and that alone is often worth the trip. Being that sick and not having enough blood volume is what can turn a bad virus into worse, so please don't take any chances!

I hope you feel better ASAP!!

PLEASE get yourself to the doctor. You need to get some IV fluids into your system. Sending good thoughts your way. Get better soon.

BTDT. We all had the shot.

Son got it first, type A. Started him on tamiflu right away. He was completely well on day 4. He has a residual ear infection.

i got it a few days after him, started Tamiflu right away. I also was done with it by day 4 but I have asthma and developed bronchitis, so my lung doc prescribed me steroids and antibiotics, which I just finished.

DH started sneezing non stop a day after I went down (both son and I started with the sneezing), so he started tamiflu before anything else happened, never got fever, but was hit by a ton of bricks and lost 1,5 days of work.

None of the other kids got it. So we are done with the fliu (unless it mutates and we get it again) and aside from a few miserable days, it wasn't that bad. I only felt really horrible for a day.

i hope you get better soon! Push fluids.

Sounds very unpleasant, hope you feel better soon! I’ve only had flu once but it was horrible, aches and pains, high temp, hallucinations, the works; you have my sympathies.

AB, hope you feel better soon.

Ughhh... feel better soon!

Big warm, fluffy hugs & hope this horrid thing passes quickly for you!

Hope you are feeling better soon! The flu is no joke this year. Take care.

I hope you recover soon. But yes like others said, get to your doctor.

Do get to a Dr. Lots of far away hugs with lysol..just in case!! but major major healing dust for you. keep us informed as to how you're doing.

Please take care of yourself and get to the doctor. The flu this year is just too dangerous to mess with.

I have not had the flu in 18 years, New Years eve 1999 I spent the millenium change in bed, on antibiotics, sick. My son got a milder case husband and younger son did not get it.

I've had pneumonia 2x in the last 18 years, both times after traveling so doubt it was the flu, but I can say, flu happens very fast.

For the pneumonia I had a steroid nasal spray, steroids, antibiotics and codeine cough syrup, I spent time in the bathroom with steam per doctor.

Fluids April are very important. And also please go to a doc in the box, your physician, whichever is better for you.

Wishing a quick recovery it is a bitch.

AprilBaby...do what you can to get to the Doc! I hope you have someone taking care of you and you're not alone.

I repeat...please get to the doc.

Agree with the others. Please get to see a doctor or go to the emergency room.

Feel better @AprilBaby. Sending healing dust and good thoughts your way.

The flu shot doesn't cover all the strains of the flu this year worldwise was and is a very nasty season. Keep warm, hydrated and go to the doctors if you don't seem to be getting over it.

Oh no AB! I'm so sorry you feel this way. I also think you need to find a way to get to the doctor, as miserable as it will be to make that happen. About 14 years ago I was in the same boat -- literally too sick to go to the doctor, and my husband was out of the country. It was before I had a cell phone and I couldn't even get to the kitchen to answer the regular phone when he called... and called... and called. It was horrible. Please go!

Oh Aprilbaby, so sorry you're dealing with this, how awful. I hope you start feeling better very soon. Please make every effort to stay hydrated. If you don't see an improvement very soon please get to a doctor or hospital. I hope you have some help and support.

How are you today Aprilbaby? Hope you're feeling a little better.

AprilBaby-

Did you ever get to the doctor?

Deb, hoping!!!

Feeling a bit better after three days of this. Fever gone and no vomiting but the headache is killing me and now I’m starting upper respiratory. Drinking powerade and getting as much sleep as possible. Dr said to call again if fever reaches 102. Get your shots!

Can't the doctor give you something for the headache? Can you call and ask for something? It sounds unbearable. So sorry!

Deb :wavey:

Headache might be due to dehydration and all the vomiting -- strains all the body's muscles. Keep sipping the Powerade. Try some adult Pedialyte to replenish electrolytes. My husband had the same thing. The respiratory portion lasted 6 weeks. The sickest he's been in 20 years. I bought him a vaporizer to use at night and it helped a bit.

I hope you continue to feel better @AprilBaby .

Please go to Dr., I ended up taking my daughter to emergency room Thursday, she was so weak I even had to get into shower with her to help her. It's nasty, and you want it over ASAP. She got fluids and was prescribed Tamiflu, was better by day 4. She also has had her flu shot

gosh I hope you feel better soon!!

That's exactly what I was thinking when you mentioned the vomiting - I always get headaches from straining while vomitting.

I had flu just over 2 weeks ago, felt so poorly I had to take 2 days off work, and broke my over 10-year 100% attendance record, not happy, however there was nothing I could do except to stay in bed!
Lost 4lb in 2 days, mainly through sweat and loss of appetite.
DK
