..well almost!
I upgraded from my .31 F Si1 to a .98ct I Si2
I was a little nervous about the I color, but I really can't see any warmth next to my F.
I still cannot decide to Halo or not?!!! I am plan to upgrade eventually, thinking maybe I'll like the halo as a RHR someday?! Hopefully I can make the decision at the jewler tomorrow!

Congrats!!! You were very lucky to find a .98! I think whether to halo or not depends on how much of a change you can handle at one time! The .98 is a nice increase in size over your old stone already, so I don't think you need a halo. But on the other hand, your stone is a nice size to put in a halo without the ring ending up absolutely huge. The other factor is budget....obviously a plain solitaire is a lot less than a diamond halo setting. Good luck!

What a lovely stone. Congrats! That is quite the upgrade and would be very elegant as a solitaire but I think it would look stunning in a cushion halo :saint:

If you're planning to upgrade this one I'd stick with a plain inexpensive solitaire and put everything you save into the upgrade piggy bank until you reach your dream size, then go all out on that halo! That way you don't want to have to worry about not having any use for a too-small halo setting ::)

My grandmother had a .98. She considered it her 1 ct diamond. :))

Congratulations! It will be beautiful either way. I, personally, prefer the classic look of a solitaire over a halo. I think Yssie's recommendation is what I would go with if an upgrade is a possibility in the future.
 
Congrats. A lot of jewelers consider .96-.99 to be one carat if they are selling preset rings. You definately have a carat. And a very pretty one too!
 
Love your new upgrade, look at all that sparkle your round is giving off. I also love that you went for a round as an upgrade from your princess, more bang for your buck IMHO, classic, pretty and perfect.

Gorgeous new diamond! It looks beautiful and very white. If you're planning on upgrading again, I'd do a solitaire setting--get your halo later when you have your "forever" stone .

Congratulations on your new diamond!
I'd put it a plain setting and start saving for 2 matching diamonds in order to get a wonderful three stones right hand ring.
 
Congratulations, iheartsparkles! That is a wonderful upgrade! It looks like a beautiful stone! A halo would be nice and
would really jump the finger coverage, but if you plan to upgrade in a few years, the money might better be spent on the stone
size you really want. However, I think it would be lovely to halo your smaller stone and make a pendant or a ring out of it.

I went to the pick out a setting today and found a catherdral I really liked.. but they wanted to charge an extra $300 setting fee because my stone because was purchased elsewhere. Is that unreasonable?! I've never had anything custom made before?
 
You are already thinking that you will upgrade it...so perhaps size is a big issue for you. Therefore, I'd halo it. I think you'll get DSS quickly if you are already dreaming of an upgrade, so I'd spend the extra for a halo now - to halo it later will cost you more than if you do it now...so just get it done with and get the biggest "bling" for your buck now!

Beautiful! I'm jealous! I have a 1/3 carat and am dreaming of upgrades...unfortunately, my upgrade will be waiting for a very long time... :D

Your upgrade is gorgeous. Most places charge per point to mount a stone not from them so $300 is not a surprise for a 1 ct diamond. Your diamond will look great in a solitaire.

Finally got it set!

some quick pics with just my WG band and with my half eternity.. the spinning bothers me. But my husband was in shock when I even mentioned looking for a full eternity! He thought he was done with diamonds for a while, apparently?! :lol:

Also, I plan to make earrings out of my previous stone for those who asked..

thanks for all the comments.. upgrades are so much fun!! I think I'll be happy with this size now. Compaired to my .3 it seems huge, and I'm loving it!
