My very good friend is going to pop the question some time this year. We went to the same high school, college and grad school. He''s always been a big goof ball to me but I guess we''re all grown up now and he''s getting serious with his new gf. Anyways, he knows nothing about diamonds. But he did tell me his budget!!! It''s a healthy one.

He thinks she wants a ring with 1 round center with two triangular sides. I went through the "show me the ring" thread and saw a lot of beautiful rings, but not one with two triangulars. So I kinda gave up and was wondering if anyone remembers anyone having a round with 2 triangulars on here. I browse a lot but cannot really remember a round center with a two triangular sides. I suggested a round with two trapezoids but I wanted to compare that to two traingulars. Can anyone help?

He''s thinking about a 1.5ct center. I guess the next question would be what size should the sides be.

I tried getting him on here but he''s completely clueless. I gave him a link to mark morrell''s website (my fave), a link to couple of stones from GOG and WF, a link to PS. Geez what more do I have to do?? But I don''t mind taking on the task. I think this is going to be fun. He''s so funny and deserves the best.

That's exciting and a fun project for you I'm sure. So a round with two trillions is what he is looking for??

Bling diva! Thanks so much! I remember that ring by MWM. I''m a huge fan of his work. If I was waiting on getting engaged, I''d try to get my FI to go through him. However my FI did a wonderful job and I''m completely satisfied with my setting. I was going to try to convince my friend to go to MWM but he wants white gold and MWM only deals with platinum. So I might not ever get to see a MWM ring in person....maybe when my 10 year anniversary hits my FI will let me get ANOTHER (not wanting to upgrade) ring and get it through MWM...*wishful thinking*. A girl can dream can''t she?

But back to Bling Diva, really thanks! You guys really saved me a lot of time. I love headlight''s and MWM''s rings. They look very similar. But I''ll show my friend all of them and let me choose. I personally love the low settings.

Oh yeah I was talking with my friend about proposal dates and it will be in the first part of this year. If he finds a ring he likes he''ll do it sooner. Here are the possible dates:

V day
her bday some time in June. Maybe june 6th.
their anniversary date also sometime in june. I think it was the 15th.

I recommended that all those dates are nice but perhaps a date between vday and june so they can create a new special day just for them. Waiting til after vday will give him some time to do some research and find the *perfect* ring.

I just went to the GOG website. I wonder if I could convince my friend to go with a solasfera??? My friend never heard of an H&A cut but thought it was pretty cool. I gave him a link to a H&A gog stone and he was impressed. I never thought of sending him a link to an solasfera.

The only question I have is that why doesn''t GOG put their prices up for solasfera stones? their H&A stones all have prices. I wonder if they are considerably more than an H&A stone. Does anyone know? 1.5ct H&A round vs. 1.5 ct solasfera?

any thoughts?

I can tell you that a 1ct Solasfera will run between 5500$ (J SI2) to 10000$ (G VS).
