My BF knows I am obsessed with educating myself about diamonds and that I will settle for nothing less than the best for our money. So, he sent me on a mission to find my dream setting as well as a diamond vendor. I feel comfortable buying online from Jonathan at GOG, but my BF is still not convinced, so I wanted to have a B&M option. I''ve been to at least 10 B&M here in Atlanta. No place made be comfortable with regard to their quality and knowledge. I would mention an idealscope and they looked at me like I spoke in alien or something. I would ask about he diamonds hearts and arrows and they laughed and said it was just a name brand marketing ploy...YIKES!
well, during this search I found my setting, a Simon G. The woman was very nice. Their price for the mounting was the 2nd lowest and she offered to price match my lowest price. This was all a good sign. She also mentioned that they had loose stones and if I wanted to look, she could show me. So, yesterday, on my way home from work I decided to stop in and look at my setting again and to also look at some stones. I really had no intention of wanting to buy from them, but I figured I would take a look.
She showed me some really pretty stones. She offered to put the her ring in the light machine to show me how florescence looks. She also mentioned that they have a computer that will run a sarin report! I looked around and noticed an idealscope. This place sell hearts on fire stones, so they had one and knew how to use it. So, she brought it over to me so I could look at the stones. This one was OK, but she showed me a hearts on fire and I could finally see the difference with my own eyes!!!
The saleswoman, who was probably in her 50s, said she was very impressed with my diamond knowledge and in all her career had never met a woman who talked about diamonds in a technological way. She had the owners son come over to talk to me. He said, "you must be on pricescope!". HE said he loved that site and sang the praises of GOG. He said he loved how Jonathan educates consumers and offers so much info on the stones. He said he loves all the science behind the stones and he could talk to me about it for ages. I told him what I was looking for and he showed me a version of their hearts and arrows stone. It was already set, so it was harder to get a good image of it. None the less, I told his what I wanted and my walk out the door budget. I told him the prices i''ve found so far and he said that should not be a problem. He told me to email him with all my exact specs and he will look to bring in some stones that meet my criteria.
Anyway, this all gives me confidence again in GOG as well as the confidence to consider buying from the B&M (Brown & Co). I was just really excited to finally find a B&M who not only knew about an idealscope, but talked about Garry. He knew about GOG, Pricescope, etc. Who knew that this could happen!!
