I have a temp ring. More than one in fact ;)
Cehra dear, please send one my way.
It would cost almost as much to ship it as it would to buy your own :D

I see.

Lovely, but spoken for (not by me, unfortunately).

That is great news!!! Can''t wait to see your gorgeous ring when it''s completed! I''m sure it''ll be another Leon masterpiece!

Thanks!

I am also happy you choose that gorgeous solitare setting.

Thanks, Lucyh. That was the one you preferred, right?

Yes, I did prefer the solitare. I think it will really make your stone the center of attention.
How many mm wide will the band be?

1.5-6!

I can not wait to see it Harriet.
It is going to be gorgeous.

I hope so. I don''t get the bad press about LM. We chatted quite a while about sundry matters, and he even knocked the price down.

That is very exciting, Harriet! I can''t wait to see your ring!

Even though you preferred something thicker?

I voted for something thicker too but still think it''s going to be gorgeous. Just make sure you''ve got that insurance

Ditto!

How exciting and wonderful for you Harriet! You can''t go wrong with one of Leon''s masterpieces. I shall look forward to seeing pictures when it is done!!!

Glad you made your decision and that the project is under way. Waiting is the hardest part.

At least I''ll be waiting it on while on vacation. Let''s hope he gets it done by the end of August.

That would be a great reason to have a NY get-together some time after Labor Day - all the rings will be done.

Sure!

Btw, why does Leon think that the ring should be re-appraised after it''s been re-set?

Probably because an appraisal is of the whole ring, the entire piece, not just the stone.
If you switch the setting and don''t update the appraisal and something happens to the ring, when you go to file the claim w/ the insurance co. the ring that they will "replace" is the one in the appraisal you gave them.

Now I guess this isn''t an issue in the case of a policy where you just get paid out and can go and replace the ring anyway you like on your own.

My setting is described in my appraisal and given a value (minus center stone) in my appraisal report, then the total market replacement value of the ring is given- although the most pages are given to the diamond, there should be details about the setting in the appraisal.

Ok, thanks!

Harriet, do you happen to know if the skinnier the band the smaller ring size you should order? Would it make a difference?

According to Leon, yes.

What ring size do you normally wear and what did Leon recommend?
Just curious cause I am hoping that hubby gives me the go ahead to have Leon create a setting for my stone.
My current size settings is 5.25 but the band is about 4mm wide.
