Hi all,

I am strongly considering purchasing this diamond
https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD04113784

My biggest concern is with the I color would it be okay in setting or do you think I should stick with H color

The other diamond I am considering is this one but it's a little more than I wanted to spend

Is this diamond substantially better? Any advice on these 2 would be greatly appreciated!

I'd probably get the James Allen diamond. It's a little whiter and it's an ideal cut. With BN you don't know how light return is unless you buy it and look at it under an idealscope (that you'd have to buy). I'd just ask JA about how eye-clean it is (it looks good to me from the video).

It definitely looks eye clean to me. I am not too concerned about that its more the 1st one is bigger and cheaper by more than $600. I am just a little concerned about the I color in the setting with the side stones being G but I have read medium blue fluorescence will actually help with the color on I to appear more white. I basically prefer the 1st diamond for size and it is even cleaner and it is a little cheaper but if the other diamond is substantially better or the I diamond will appear to yellow Id rather pay more and get the James Allen.

My advice is not to buy an I color. See my comments in your other thread.

I read your comments and I did not really look at them from the side. I just looked at them face up. I did bring them out the store though in normal lighting. I was leaning away toward I but I thought the medium blue fluorescence might help but it seems like I should still go with H or G. A James Allen rep actually recommended this stone and I like it a lot. It is not the true hearts like the one I choose but a color grade above and even though their both SI1 I think this one looks even cleaner. What diamond do you think is nicer between these 2?

I think the true hearts is better based off the inclusions on the 2nd one

I personally see more inclusions on the true hearts. I can't really spot the ones on the other one. Can you help point them out at all?

Neither have visible inclusions to worry about. The difference is that the 1.12 has a wide table and lower crown angle and the 1.14 has a smaller table and steeper angle. The smaller table and pairing of CA and PA makes the 1.14 more fiery. The 1.12 will tend to be less fiery and throw off more white light. They are basically the same size in spread (~6.7 mm) and exactly the same price. I prefer the fire and light return of an ideal stone like the 1.14, but it needs an idealscope image to be positive (but I bet it will look good).

To me, this is the better of the two. https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...rat-h-color-si1-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-3430342

I see no visible inclusions to point out. The black you are seeing is reflection of the camera. Notice how they are all geometric shapes? That is why we love this stone.

But, if the budget won't work. Here are a few to explore that are less expensive. Just ask for the IS image.

What about this stones specs (I attached the GIA file they sent me)? The HCA score was 1.3 and excellent for all categories. They want $7700 and I can see it in person and since I am purchasing the setting from them also the ywill set it for free which saves about $200 from what they quoted me set a stone if I bought it on-line. It's also E color and VS2 clarity which are both better. Is there something I should be cautious of?

That crown angle is too low for a pairing with the 40.8. So, my bet is that the IS will show leakage. Along with the wide table, just not my favorite kind of stone. I would also worry about the location and inclusions in the table relative to how visible they will be. It also has "additional clouds not show" which need to be evaluated for causing haziness (like a snow globe effect). It is worth looking at, but their gemologist should be able to review this for haziness and eye-clean.
