So I kind of bought an engagment ring from Jared''s last week and I think it was a mistake. Luckly I can still return for a full refund. The reason I think it was a mistake is because I recently found this site which in turn introduced me to sites like goodoldgold.com, bluenile.com, whiteflash.com and it looks like I can get a much better ring for what I paid.
Here is the princess cut diamond I purchased.
I.G.I cert. (not even a full cert with table % and girdle thickness, I have to call IGI for that myself, EVERYTHING listed on the cert is below)
Shape/Cut: Rectangular Mod Brill
Measurments: 5.77 x 5.34 x 4.45
Weight: 1.22 CT
Color: E
Clarity: SI2
Polish/Symmetry: Good/Good
Treatment: None
COST: $6,600
Now I did some math, and I think I did it correctly. I calced a L/W Ratio of 1.00:1.08 which is not to good I think and Depth % of 83.3% which is also not good.
I really like the setting: White Gold, I think it had 0.75 CT of baghets and two side stones. It cost $1,800. I dont have a pic so I attached a drawing.
Ok if you have stuck with me this far thank you, and hopefully I will be done typing soon.
Now the ONE thing that I do like about Jareds is a policy they have stating they will replace and diamond that is chiped, broken, or lost from its original setting durring normal wear. And they clean and re-finish the white gold for lifetime of ring.
That seems like a good policy, BUT I dont know anything about other insurance policys (homeowners, dedicated ring insurance, etc.)
I may still keep the setting and buy the main stone online, but overall
WHAT SHOULD I DO...???
