Okay, we''re doing favors after all. I wanna do them mostly because I love the way the boxes add to the look of the decor. So I wanna do pretty boxes with ribbons in my colors, filled with peanut M&Ms (which is something FI and I share all the time, so it has meaning for us).

However, several of his relatives coming to the wedding are diabetic. Plus he likes the idea of the favor having some utilitarian value. He wants to have M&Ms, but in a big bowl with a scoop over on a side table, and people can help themselves, nor not. As favors he wants these coffee scoops.

What do you think? Would you like getting a coffee scoop as a wedding favor (everybody coming to the wedding drinks coffee).

I think thats a useful item to give! I think that they are very tasteful and not hokey or cheesy like some favors can be. Nice choice. I personally prefer something that has some sort of purpose rather than food or candy. (Though, I will have to eat my words come my own wedding because we plan on giving honey harvest by my mother''s friend who is a bee keeper... already bought the jars even though we''re not officially engaged yet. My excuse for not practicing what I preach is that the honey was free and the jars were cheap

Maybe you might want to attach a tag with the ribbon that explains how many scoops of ground coffee to use per cup of coffee. Is it just one? Personally I''m so horrible with putting the right amount of grounds with the right amount of water that I would be someone who could use that information.

Have fun decorating your favor boxes!

Will people know what those are for? I''m a coffee drinker and I had to admit that I didn''t know what they were for until I read your text.

Just thought I'd throw another option out there! How about these measuring spoons with messages? They have "A pinch of joy" - "A dash of tenderness" - "A spoonful of affection" - "A heap of love" engraved on them. Here's the link.

ETA: I think they're $2 each.

I''m gonna go against the grain here and say I''d prefer the M&Ms. (Btw I think it''s great that you guys love peanut m&ms - me and my FI share peanut butter m&ms all the time, and we LOVE them.) We''re planning on buying the M&Ms (unfortunately they only offer plain) you can personalize and choose your colors in bulk and packaging them ourselves in netting bags with ribbon or pipe cleaner in our colors, and put a little tag on there that says thanks for coming, with love, our names, etc. May also set them out in bowls around the reception.

I''ve just never liked most favors. I think edible ones are great because the guests can eat them, throw the netting away, and keep the little tag (if they''re sentimental like that)... and it''s cheap on our part. The best one I''ve seen was a little bag with individually wrapped candy and mint lifesavers for people to take home, with a little tag attached. I''ve been to too many weddings where the favors were bubbles in a little champagne glass (she had so many extra that she gave us all like 20 and I ended up throwing them away b/c I never used them), a candle decorated in their wedding theme (never set out because most wedding themes don''t go at all with people''s home decor), or something like that. I think the coffee scoops are cute, and I do agree that a tag with directions on there would be good to identify what it is in case there are questions. But I just have a hard time imagining most people replacing their current coffee scoops with that. It would probably just go in a drawer in the kitchen and rarely get used (at least in my experience).

Anyway, that''s just my opinion. Most people don''t come to weddings thinking "Oh boy, I can''t wait to see what favor I''ll get today!" I think it''s usually the last thing on their minds. I''d go with the M&Ms because they''re easy and people don''t end up going home with something they don''t really need, just to add to the drawer of "extras." I think the ones who are diabetic won''t be hurt, but if you think they will, maybe have some sugar-free snacks in favor bags for them instead, like sugar-free lifesavers or something you both like.

I love the idea! Man, I wish I was coming to your wedding. I need a coffee scooper

Mine fell down the disposal and got all cut up. Stupid plastic crap.

Great idea!

You could tie them onto a small bag of coffee...with a little note saying "The Perfect Blend"...

PERFECT idea!!

I love the coffee idea, with a note saying your name plus his name + the perfect blend.

there are places where you can have your own blend made, to be put into small bags. Soooo cute.

I really like the coffee idea, too; something edible *and* something to keep. Plus, the scoop is cute without being too cutesy and useless.

Thanks! My sister had a great idea, put coffee beans into organza bags tied with pretty ribbon rather than spending $$ on personalized coffee packets. I love the "perfect blend" idea!!

Neatfreak, thanks for the suggestion on putting instruction on a tag. As I said, everyone coming to the wedding drinks coffee and I never would have thought they needed instructions, but it can''t hurt to include them.

Luvthemstrawberries, I haven''t made a final decision yet. You have a point when you say the coffee scoop could end up sitting around in a kitchen drawer. I''m still wavering on the M&Ms, mostly because I can choose really pretty boxes to put them in! Even if we do the coffee scoops we will probably still have the M&Ms there somewhere.

I was originally going to do the personalized M&Ms but they cost $130 for a 5 lb bulk bag. Sorry, I''m only having 35 people so I don''t need 5 pounds, and you can buy large bags of peanut M&Ms for something like $10 (maybe less).

Cass, you can buy your very own chrome double-heart coffee scoop for $1.89 (plus shipping and handling) at

Yeah I was looking at using boxes too, but they were more money than the little bags. But they''re so much prettier too!

Heheh and I definitely agree, I would not have 5 pounds of M&Ms if there were only 35 people coming!!

Yeah, I have such a sweet tooth that I would probably go though the extra 2-3 pounds of candy all by myself, in as many days...

unless the coffee is already packaged, I would not recommend putting loose coffee into organza bags. You could get mini coffee bags instead. I would be happy with M&M, coffee scoop, or measuring spoons.

I''m gonna put the ground coffee into clear polypro bags and then into organza bags.

Sounds good to me! I am not a coffee drinker, but you said everyone coming is so it looks like a great option and yummy! And also good for those who either can''t have nuts or are diabetic like you said.

I LOVE this idea!! Sorry it was just way to cute!!

I also like the coffee idea. I would use the dipper for sugar though
