Ok I was advised to use the HCA to find a better selection of diamonds so here is what I'm dithering about now.

http://www.ritani.com/diamonds/round-diamond-1-10-Carat-I-color-GIA-certified/D-T19H5N HCA of 1.8

http://www.ritani.com/diamonds/round-diamond-1-11-Carat-J-color-GIA-certified/D-V0W2W2 HCA of 2.5 but the price was good

http://www.ritani.com/diamonds/round-diamond-1-01-Carat-I-color-AGSL-certified/D-D3YHSF HCA of 1.2

Am I on the right track now? Any comments will be much appreciated.

Go for the 1.10

I like that one also. Why not the 1.01carat? It has the better HCA ratings.

Go for the 1.1 or 1.01

For these prices, however, I'd check out Brian Gavin Diamonds, Good old Gold or Whiteflash. You can get a a beautiful hearts and arrows in the 1ct range for the same price.

H&A isn't always better. I have an excellent, and a H&A the same size - the excellent has a better HCA & cut class.

No, it does not. 1.2 is not better than 1.8. All scores of 2.0 and below are worth looking at further, and sometimes up to 2.5.

I like the look of the 1.10 I better than the 1.01 and I think it may be the slightest amount whiter. It is also going to be visually larger, so hands down, it is the best choice of these three. (No actual image of the J stone, plus it has a two year old report which makes me wonder why it hasn't sold. I'd never buy a stone without either photos, video, or idealscope image. I really prefer I color over J.)

1.2 is not better than 1.8 OMG I've got so much to learn. Thanks for telling me that.

the 1.01 has really skinny arrows.

OK I've looked at the cut class tool and understand how to use it. What I can't find are the width, depth and length measurements in mm. I can find those measurements in % but not in mm. Where do I find the mm measurements. The rest of the numbers i can find from either the AGS or the GIA reports. What am I not understanding here?

JulieN. I take it that skinny arrows are not good.

The preference here is from medium to fat.
