My wedding is August of 2009. Date is still undecided. However, I knew I wanted to just get things done already.

So I went to my first sample sale: Kleinfeld''s blow out sale today. I got there with my sister at 12noon and waited till it was 3pm. We were 16th in line. My little sister came later on. When we got let in they stormed the racks for me (love them!) and found several dresses I loved. FINALLY, my first younger sister came back with a beautiful gown I''d loved from a while ago: an AMSALE!!

It is called:

Guadalupe
Marquis Satin/Silk Taffeta. Satin trumpet gown with sweetheart neckline, spaghetti straps and low back. Ruched sash at natural waist. Gentle trumpet skirt and chapel train.

I fell in love with it. My sisters loved it. I cried. It was like fate: it fit me perfectly other than the bust being a bit loose and the ordinary issue of too long hem. I''m going to have to do a few minor alterations (hem length, tighten up the bodice) and give it a general cleaning and steaming, but otherwise it was flawless.

Now, so your jaws will drop! This gown was priced at $3300 plus 8.25% NY taxes. I got it at $390.62 including taxes. Pretax it was about $375.

I''m including a picture of it on the model. I''m nervous about the low back but I love the modern look for a wedding dress. AND blue is my favorite color!!

It''s a beautiful dress!!! Can''t wait to see pics!

Wow!!! What an amazing deal!

The back of your dress reminds me of one my Jasmine Bridal. (Click on Picture 2)

My roommate tried this on and I think it is a beautiful, affordable wedding dress (as it actually costs about what you paid for yours), but I am sure the material yours is made of feels divine!

Wow, that dress is FABULOUS!!! I would kill to be able to wear a dress with a back like that! Congrats on the great deal!

That''s a very sexy but elegant dress. I love the blue sash - just divine. Its going to look GAWJUS!!!

Thanks Sabine! I''m lucky enough to be blessed with great genes and metabolism (my mom is 4''8" and 100 lbs after 4 kids!!) so while my back is not as svelte or lovely as the runway model''s I''m not freaking out about working it out 24/7 before the wedding! Ok, maybe just a smidgen.

LOL! CrownJewel my sisters are lovin'' the new nickname! I showed them the post and they are cracking up!

They did really good for me. I''ve got my own set of consultants. One of them scouts and the other hustles me in and out of dresses. They both judge and say yea or nay though.

I don''t have any pictures of it on me because I need to get it altered in the bodice a bit, as well as cleaned up! BUT as soon as I have something I will post.

Anyone have ideas for suitable veils or do you all think a veil would be overkill? I''m trying to think of way to minimize the bare back for the church ceremony. Worse come to worse I may consider adding some of the extra fabric to the back to cover up a bit. BUT I really don''t want to ruin such a beautiful design!

Let me know what you all think.

STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have seen this dress in ads before and thought it was great, especially the back of the dress, I think it makes the dress!

I just saw what you paid for the dress, I just picked myself up off the floor...HAHAHAHAHA

Where and when are you getting married?

Very sexy! I wish I could rock a dress with a back like that!

It''s absolutely beautiful, I''m so excited for you!

The dress is AMAZING! I wouldn''t change the back at all, its awesome the way it is.

Can''t wait to see a photo of you in it!

wow what a bargain! It''s so beautiful! I love the back.

OMG!! I love this dress, i am sure you will look amazing in it. I could not belive the price when i saw it. I showed it to my cousin and she was like what," now that is one HELL of a sale" Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!

okay, my jaw really did literally seriously drop when i saw how much you paid for that--and i thought i was good by getting my $1800 dress for $800!!!! it''s beautimus, dahling!

not a clue on the veil because i don''t know what it''d look like over that bow, but i do know that changing the design of the dress would just be cruel! it''s so friggin'' pretty!!! but you know this--you bought it-and on sale, you savvy shopper you! i''d just go to a fabric store, buy a piece of cheap tulle, and drape it over my head 19000 different ways while wearing the dress to get a visual!

Beautiful dress and what a fabulous steal! Well done!

I think that you should not touch the dress - it is elegant and classy as it is - I don''t think it is even all that risque.

As far as the veil goes, what about one of those poofy ones - here let me find you a pic.

Wht a beautiful dress. I love the sash and the modern look. I can't wait to see photos of you in it.

I'm actually wearing the Jasmine dress someone posted in my wedding. I never once worried about the low back, although in reality it isn't that low - not even close to plumbers crack low.
19.gif
I do however need to do something about the noticeable tan lines on my back from my swimsuit.

LOLZ! Plumber''s crack low!! I am cracking up in front of my computer right now. This back is seriously low. I''ve got a nice back but I''m still buying Buff Brides'' book to work on my arms and back. I''ve got 1 year and 3 months. Hopefully I''ll look as svelte as that model! (Well, maybe not THAT svelte, I''d need to eat something!!)

Where and when are you getting married?

I''m getting married in a church and we were vacillating between this year August and next, but I need the engagement time to save money and just plan sloooowwwwlly.

I almost fell to the ground too. My sisters and I did a group hug and yippee! dance after I forked over my debit card. Many a high fives went around. Jubilant was the word to describe us. It''s an interesting mentality in my family: if one of us gets what they want and the others had a part in helping them, they''re just as if not more happy. I mean they were so happy and proud you''d think my sisters were the brides! ^_^

doodle you crack me up! I don''t know how to highlight, but i loved this part of your post: "buy a piece of cheap tulle, and drape it over my head 19000 different ways while wearing the dress"!

I had a dream last night that I found the perfect veil but no matching shoes!! LOL!

I talked to the fiance and he says he thinks that the church will be ok with the open back and to forgo the veil since it''d have a hard time matching. I think I''ll just wear a simple headpiece or some silk flowers to touch up the hair and leave it at that. The gown''s so dramatic I can visualize tacking more onto the final "look".

OHMYGOSH!! I LOVE THIS DRESS!! Honestly, it has to be my second favorite (after mine of course
28.gif
). You know why? The pale blue! I LOVE pale blue on a wedding dress. And you can''t beat the price!

Congrats!

october2008bride you''re so psychic it''s odd! I''m Chinese American and my FI is Polish (as in off the boat from Europe Polish!!). So I was shocked to see that photo.
3.gif

I can''t do a pouf veil--my face is ovalish round and I get a pointy chin (a la Reese Witherspoon) when I smile. The poufy short veil would make me look...weird I think.
In any case the great veil debate is over! FI said it won''t be too risque for the church and that it''d look off with the gown anyways! So yay! No more veil worries!
36.gif

Just gotta think about shoes and jewelery since the gown is more of champagne/ivory cream color. I don''t want to dip dye the shoes since I''m changing into a qi pao for the reception and I heard that white gold or pearls won''t match a champagne/cream colored gown!
33.gif

Would it be stupid btw (this is for everyone!) to match my wedding colors around my sash? I was thinking navy/royal blue BM dresses with cream flowers (calla lilies?) and silvery/ivory accents. Royal blue linens, sky blue napkins and silver edged tableware?
