Hi all,

I hope you are doing well. I bought this diamond (0.51 ct) without researching: http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD07521881,,
but I noticed it is small. I would like you could help me to find one bigger and better. Now I increased my budget to $2,400 for the diamond.

I am looking for a round cut diamond with good color and ideal cut. I really appreciate your support.

Thanks in advance.

If you are within the return period, call and get return instructions.......then, post your specs, price limit, etc here and the Diamond Divas will help you with a PS vendor.

That stone is not cut well either...can you go lower on color (F...still in colorless range)...
In the sig ideal range .61
http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-search?stockno=LD07596598 (you'll have to copy link and paste to a new window)

.70
http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-search?stockno=LD08000407 ask for the GIA number on this one...

Edit...if you can go down to G/H obviously you could go bigger.

Thanks for your support.

Tyty, do you recommend me to still in colorless range, or go down and look for a bigger stone? I found this 0.80 J VS1: http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD06909566

Thanks a lot.

Re: I bought a stone, but I want to return it and buy one bi

I'm not her, but generally the GIA I color grade is where most people can notice a slight creaminess or ivory tint, especially from the side. I'd say look at H and G, possibly I, especially if the I has strong blue fluorescence that will help "whiten" its face-up color whenever UV light is present. G and H should look quite white from the side and face-up. Unless you are certain that the recipient likes the warmer tones / pale yellow tints, avoid J and K and all colors farther down the alphabet. I happen to love L and M color in modern hearts & arrows RBs as well as the antique diamonds, but most of the Pricescope crowd doesn't like those warm colors except in antique diamonds. L and M are beautiful pale yellows. They are somewhat chameleon, changing color with different types of lighting. Crafted By Infinity makes modern H&A RBs in those warmer colors like L, M, N. If it turned out that the recipient really likes those very pale yellows, that would be an outstanding way to get a much larger diamond for the same money.

But otherwise, D to H are usually the safe range for someone who wants a "white" diamond for an engagement ring. Many people consider J and K too tinted for e-rings.

Are you locked into buying from Blue Nile, or can you consider other vendors? Blue Nile is known as a drop-shipper.

I was trying to suggest G/H...these are considered pretty white by most people (maybe not highly color sensitive). If you want
bigger you can drop to "I" but you will start to see a little tint in the side and at "J" you could see the tint from the top so it
all depends on your tolerance. Is this stone for you or for your GF? Is there anywhere you could go to look at AGS000 graded
stones to see how you feel about color?

I would prefer you stay higher than J just so you're not surprised by the tint but that's your call :) . That J is deep but it does
have complimentary angles.

Here is a nice "I", a little high in the clarity dept. but a pretty stone.

Here is the relative size difference between the first one you order and the .71 I posted (on a size 6 finger, 2mm band)

Here is the difference between the .51 and the .8 you posted

And here is the difference between the .71 I posted and the .8 J just to be complete

I see Adabeta has commented and is basically saying what I said earlier in this post.

Re: I bought a stone, but I want to return it and buy one bi

Thanks to both of you.

I already sent back the ring I bought. I can consider other vendors. I am looking for a white diamond for an engagement ring (It is for my GF). Thanks Tyty for suggesting me some diamonds.

Here I have four different pieces:
http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD07835660
http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD07596598
http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD07965448
http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD08000407 (I am waiting for the GIA number of this one).

Which of these diamonds do you suggest me?

Well for me it would be the first one (the I) due to size. Most girls appreciate size over color as long as the color is not too low.
J/K is getting on the low end where people tend to see color. I would like to see the GIA for the last stone though.

You can check out this video that shows color comparison. The stone that is always on the right looks darker in the center because
they are not focusing on that one as straight on as much as the one on the left (so ignore the darkness in the center).

Here's some info that should help you gauge the cut for yourself: Read http://niceice.com/diamond-buying-secrets/5-minutes-diamond-buying-success/.. If the diamond is GIA or or some other lab that's not AGS, also run the HCS cut adviser and look for score 2 or under, just 20 or under, as a pass/fail test. (If it's AGS, they already evaluated the cut grade. An AGS 000 is a shoe-in for great light performance.)

Also read the other stuff under niceice's Education section.

Read this, too: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/preferred-specs-cheat-sheet-for-rounds.88548/

The JA stone is very nice! Nothing wrong with it. For the price, though, I would prob save a couple hundred and go with this stone tyty suggested (http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-search?stockno=LD07835660) or the G I suggested earlier since I value higher color.

Thanks to all of you for the support. Finally, I bought the 0.71 suggested by Tyty. When I receive it, I would post a picture.

Happy New Year!
