Long time lurker here, first time poster, so hi everyone. Nice to meet you. I''ve looked and read and now I have got to ask, because i am losing my mind, what little i had in the first place.

This is the first upload of the engagement ring my honey bought for me.

Welcome! That ring is stunning!

second upload is not cooperating. suffice it to say, it is an square cut emerald - H - VVS1 GIA certified center stone.

this, however, is not the dilemma.

To go with this lovely, lovely ring my honey surprised me with, I had a wedding band custom made and it looks like this:

thank you and hi.

now, the sapphires on the wedding band are rather dark. i had asked for cornflower blue, sky blue....ANYTHING but navy.

but navy is what i got.

those are baguettes.

My problem is finding a jeweler, e jeweler preferably, that will supply 1.52 carats worth of pretty coloured sapphires so my jeweler who is great with diamonds, sucks with sapphires....can reset this ring. OR a jeweler who can make this ring. I have the size, the dimensions. I do not believe the setting is so unusual that it cannot be made. It is 3.1mm and goes so well with the diamond. It makes that center stone pop.

and i truly do not care for dark sapphires, but my jeweler knows diamonds only and took the ring back because i was so unhappy.

sigh.

That sucks.

Have you looked at thenaturalsapphirecompany.com or
simplysapphires.com?

In my opinion, get what makes you happy.

ok. finally, the upload worked. i love this ring and it so goes with diamonds and sapphires....pretty and bright and royal blue to cornflower to anything but dark or navy....

is there any one that can create the ring that will go so well with this engagement ring?

By the way, I love the design for your wedding band.

i must be doing something wrong, because i only find stones that are unsuitable. i should probably write to him or put my jeweler in touch with him.

quite frankly, i am a little peeved at my jeweler, who didn''t listen. i sent him pictures, rather than describe the colour sapphire i wanted.....so that he could see a blue that would be acceptable....

and i''m not that picky....i just don''t want sapphires that are dark.

so do i...it''s simple and elegant and the diamonds are of good quality and the sapphires suck.

thank you for your comment. i was so excited, until i opened the box.

originally, we were going to do this with rounds and baguettes...then rounds and blue diamonds...but sapphire is my birthstone, so we went with blue sapphires.

now i''m miserable. i just want what i want.

I would be reluctant to work with a jeweler who screwed up the first time after receiving clear instructions.
Get in touch with someone at one of those sites and ask them. They will probably be able to source exactly what you want for you. Vendors don''t always put everything they have up on their sites.
If you want to use your jeweler again and you want to work through him put him in touch with palagems.

I''m so sorry that you are miserable.

It''s really awful to be disappointed like that.

i must have been reading your mind, because i just sent emails to simplysapphires and naturalsapphirecompany.

thanks.

No problem. My fingers are crossed that you get exactly what you''ve dreamt of.

So are you guys married yet?

It is lovely that your man surprised you - does he know you are not in love with the colour?

I imagineas it is custom, it is non-returnable?

I''m sorry that the sapphires were too dark. I would hate that too. I''m glad they took the ring back. Good luck finding lighter colored sapphires, I''m sure that you will with the advice you''ve already gotten.

For finding the sapphire replacement, I'd give this task to a jeweller or vendor rather than trying to shop on my own for several reasons:
1. All the stones have to match in colour
2. Small size
3. Multiple stone
4. Difficulty of finding step cuts
For something like this, I doubt any vendor will post them on their website.

I would recommend Wink Jones of www.winkjones.com as I have prior experience with him. When I told him I wanted the best electric blue round sapphires, he came up with the goods. He even shipped them to me for approval before setting the stones make sure I am 100% pleased with them.

hi and thanks for the input...

no, i don''t have a shot with the rings on. they actually look beautiful together and if I liked darker sapphires, I would be very satisfied.

BUT. since i simply can''t bring myself to love them, the ring went back --- The jeweler, who is truly a nice guy and did a bang up job on my engagement ring, simply doesn''t know sapphires.

I''m going to try the link you sent, thanks...and see what he can come up with. I believe you are absolutely right that this is custom made, although i do not think the setting is custom. i have seen it before. the engagement ring shines. this wedding band complements.

thanks for the input.

Hi magicre

, I think your ering is stunning, hope you find the perfect wedding band to match it.

update on my ring. NOW i''m excited. Thank you to everyone who welcomed me so warmly and gave such great advice.

I''m now working with Livia from Natural Sapphire and they are going to custom make the ring for me. I am very psyched.

She even offered to send the sapphires out to me so I could see them up close and personal; but, as much as I would love to do that...them being in New York, me being in Seattle....i said that really good pictures from all different angles would work for me.

So, hopefully, in a few weeks, I will have both rings on finger and then I will post pretty pictures.

Again, thanks!!!

we''ve been married going on fourteen years and he will always be my honey. :)

I bought my sapphire from Livia, she''s very sweet.
Although, I would actually ask for a verbal description of the sapphires, or email her some pics of sapphire color that you were aiming for. I''ve found that their photos are not always representative and can be inconsistent depending on the stone.

Can''t wait to see the finished product!

Oh it sounds like it will be just lovely. Hope it goes smoothly this time!!!

I''m so glad it worked out for you! Yay!

Livia is, indeed, a wonderful person to work with.

She sent me pictures of baguettes. They are so very close to the colour I picked out from their website.

All I did was give her the number of a stone on her site and asked her to come close to that.

And then I received an email with three baguettes and they were exactly that colour, so i told her to proceed with the creation.

Even if they are a tiny bit different....I really believe she was listening when I said my criteria did NOT include pale or navy.

There are, however, so many colours in between that are vibrant and deep and high in quality.

This is an example of the baguettes. I cannot WAIT to see this ring. It''s going to make my engagement ring snap, crackle, and pop. :)

I want to thank everyone for the suggestions and for recommendations to naturalsapphires.com

It’s too late now since you have accepted the stones and it is being set. I would have gladly accepted her offer to look at the sapphires in person to check them out indoors and outdoors to be sure it is the correct shade, especially since you’ve been “burnt” once on the sapphires. Every computer monitor is calibrated slightly differently and we don’t know the lighting setup to be able to gauge it accurately. I don’t consider shipping from cross country a hassle at all because at least it isn’t overseas, where the insurance and tracking gets messier.
