This popped up in my YouTube feed today so I clicked - and this appraiser’s advice surprised me, what are your thoughts?

My first reaction? This woman makes me cringe and I disagree with almost everything that comes out of her mouth.

Ring settings with a lot of emphasis on metal adornment usually contain mediocre stones?? Buttercup would disagree - do you?

She appears to be confusing stone with saturation as mentioned by @EC8. At least she will make some people happy when they hear their dark, inky sapphire is very valuable.

Daisy your sapphire may well be quite valuable; I think the general idea is that the determination isn’t just made on depth of color.

Hi Daisy. I was just making a point and all in all personal preference is what is the most valuable when choosing a gemstone. But in general, dark, inky sapphires should cost less than medium or medium dark, well saturated ones.

Don’t feel bad Daisy, the Purpose of it is to make you happy, which it does!

I have a Small diamond which is broken and I love and adore it even though other people wouldn’t choose it!
It makes me happy.

Eh, this might be useful in discerning quality of more commonly found jewelry.
I'm not sure she means this to apply to heirloom quality jewelry.

Never send anything away to be evaluated??? She can't be serious.

I would be very curious if some here would send her just pics of their rings and see just how she evaluates them.

I think she is trying to be helpful, but in 3 minutes, you can only cover so much information.
She misspoke at 2:41. She meant to say marcasite, not malachite.

@Daisys and Diamonds if it makes you feel better I bought so many shady things before PS!

I don't actually even have reports on a lot of my later stuff but they were bought with a lot more knowledge!

Don't feel bad about it! It's only jewellery at the end of the day! It's not too bad of a mistake if you must make a mistake in life.

Listen to what our doctor said, "The darker the tone the better the stone".

Now you may not know this, but I'll let you in on a universal secret.
When something rhymes, it's super-duper true, and when you hear it on the Internets, it's the best!
Why that even better than, "AS SEEN ON TV!"

Write that down folks.
Tell your friends that you heard it right here from your lucky penny ... Kenny!
