Thanks for clarifying that. Looks like I'll have to have blue or go with flame fusion.

I do see colors other than blue from time to time in hydrothermal, but with the difference in price, and since once cut you would never tell the difference there isn't a good reason to spend so much more on the material.

Its pretty easy to tell flame fusion material from hydrothermal in the rough. This photo shows two flame fusion sapphires on the left, and hydrothermal blue sapphire slab and emerald hydrothermal slab.

The difference in price is dramatic. The two flame fusion boules were less than $25, both hydrothermal pieces were over $1000.
