So I took a look at HW''s cushion/micropave halo ring. I love it and I''d like to create one without a B&M stone. For those who haven''t seen it, it is a thin shank (maybe 1.7mm) with micropave on the head/halo and only the outside of the shank with F/VS1 stones ~0.3tcw

1. The stone in the HW sits about 50% above the halo, unlike Tiffany''s Legacy which is flush with it. I like the HW so much better. Is that referred to as a "mushroom cut?" How would I describe that to a designer (aside from "go to HW and copy that")?

2. The ring is sooo delicate (maybe 1.7mm shank, micropave, etc.) I don''t know who can provide that kind of work, although I think Leon Mege can. How much would that setting cost from LM? Can anyone else provide that delicate work?

3. How fragile is a ring like that? I don''t want my GF to be losing stones at work.

4. What cushion ratio should I look for? The other threads are kinda vague on this one. 1.2? 1.3?

They want like $22k for a 1ct F VS1. I have to be able to beat that with a stone from ERD (not to mention getting a better stone), but the setting is a different story. Please help!

cushions are tricky. if it were me, I''d contact Mark T, no question, let him know your budget and what type of cushion you want. Do you want it more square, more rectagular etc. leon would get my highest recommendation for the setting. Call or email him for a quote but my guess would be 4-5k, but that is just a guess. mark T has also done some amazing HW like rings so he''d be option 2, would probably be a bit lower on price is budget is a big issue. pave is delicate, Leon has a great article about it on his site. pave rings need to be babied a bit and shouldn''t be worn while gardening, working out lifting weights etc. She won''t howver just randomly loose stones. well done pave should not just fall out, now if she bangs it some damage can be done to the beads holding in the stones but repairing a lost stone is usually very easy and inexpensive...around $20 or so.

Thanks, especially for the price range. I emailed LM once before, and he never replied. I''ll try again.

What about the ratio of the cushion?

Here''s a pic of the ring (I forgot whose thread I hijacked it from). What do you think the ratio of this stone is?

Well this might just give you a ballpark idea but I asked acegirlbda (owner of a leon) how much her setting cost here.

This is an actual pick of HW I took from HW in Vegas

Leon said to me once that this ring (style 811 Adrianna) is a HW style pave ring. My best guess is maybe order of $5k, maybe bit less, mabe bit more, but that ball-park. Best to just call him and ask what it would be for your size stone and finger size.

Mark T makes a gorgeous HW replica. Since you are going to him for the cushion, I''d also use him for the ring. (This is the ring I want as well) Here is Winnie''s HW replica made by Mark T.

What ratio is that cushion? It looks fairly square. The one I saw was more rectangular but not much. I was dead set on an RB, but I really like the micropave halo and the RB looks too much like a bullseye with it, hence my desire for a slightly rectangular stone.

how big do you want the stone to be?

Hi Winnie!

I''m actually struggling with the size of the stone. Besides which proportions would look best on her finger, my head is about to explode with all the stats of the stone and how they affect the price. I think I''d like around 1.4ct, but I also want like F/VS1/Ex/Ex/Ex. And I was hoping to spend like $12k on the stone and up to $4k on the setting. I want F/VS1 micropave and the cushion set somewhat above the halo. As far as what kind of cushion, I think crushed ice, but sparkles are nice too. Who doesn''t like sparkles? 4 mains v. 8 mains, etc. I''m having trouble keeping track of it all. It''s a lot to learn.

At HW, they wanted $22k for a 1ct F/VS1. I hope I can get what I''m looking for for a lot less while still getting similar quality.

hi
first off- i am terrible lenswman so i don''t have a pic with my wefding band-

rock rookie- you will ring in (no pun intended!) was below the 22k with mark and ur stone will be even nicer than HW! the setting will be perect too- he knowd what u mean mean u say it sits about the halo...

a 1.4 will look grea tbut if u want to get the trur HW look- their cushions are NOT ''crushed'' variety like u referred to- they are more the antique variety like mine so if u like th HW, don''t get the crushed fradiant looking cushion- trust me- a totally different look

Winnie,

How big is the stone in your photo and what are the micropave stones'' grade?

f color mine is 1.7 ct- i think the micropave color was F and not sure of the clarity but i requested the nicest grade...
