Huge Ametrine

I am interested in buying this Ametrine Stone. It is 117cts, Emerald Cut with about 1/3 split. The price is around $300.00. Please give me some feedback on what you all think.

I love it. I love the two colours of the Amethyst and Citrine coming together in the Ametrine.

I suppose it's as a collector's item? Could make a great paperweight.

Anyhow, it looks quite pretty.

Please don''t tell me you''re going to set that!! It''s around $3/ct, not bad. It is potentially heat treated to make one end a citrine color, don''t know for sure.

No, not at all. I don''t buy all my stones to have set, I enjoy taking them out of the safe, placing them on my hobby table and enjoy the beauty. I have decided not to get this one, I like a bit more of a color split. By the way your Paraiba Gems are Beautiful, the color is fantasic!

I love ametrine, I have several. Personally, I try to get as close to a 50/50 split as possible. This photo is of one I have that is 54 carats.

Now THAT is a beautiful ametrine. The colours are saturated but bright. Plus the checkboard cut accentuates the colour split (and I normally don''t like checkerboard cuts so this one really looks special).

Thanks! It''s one of my favorites. It''s got a whopping appraisal, too, well over $1000 -- which is why I think that $300 for the stone you''re showing is a very decent price.
