Hello everyone! Some of you might have seen this is the show your paraiba tourmaline thread. But now that I have it on my finger I figured it deserved it’s own post!
My hubby knows I’ve been dreaming of a paraiba ring for a long time. I recently had a pendant made from Yvonne that had a small paraiba in it and the color is so beautiful. I would send him pics when Yvonne would post a new one to get his thoughts but I would never pull the trigger and buy. One of my favorite ones was a sugarloaf cab. It seemed to be a good size for the price. I sent him the link but then when I checked a few hours later it had sold. Oh well, happens a lot. But I was bummed.
Fast forward to last week and I’m thinking of creating a small ring with a paraiba in it along with other family stones to match my pendant. I mentioned it to hubby who shot it down immediately which isn’t like him. Especially considering how much he liked my pendant and knowing I would probably pay for doing a small ring myself.
I must have looked sad because he then goes, well I already got you something for our anniversary (in June). He asked if I wanted to see. At first I said no, but then curiosity got the best of me (and I could tell he kind of wanted to show it to me!). Turns out that exact same day, Yvonne had sent him pics of the ring he had created with her! And wouldn’t you know it, it had the sugarloaf cab in it!!
I cannot believe my husband did a CAD project! I haven’t even done one, too cheap to pay a CAD fee lol. I think they did a great job! He asked for a more antique feel and had it incorporate small color change garnets which is his birth stone (tourmaline is mine). And kudos to Yvonne too, I know it isn’t her standard style and I think it came out beautifully. I love how simple it is, allowing the stone to really shine.
Here are Yvonne’s pics of the ring and stone. Paraiba is 1.97 cts and 8mm, from Brazil.
