Hello everyone! Some of you might have seen this is the show your paraiba tourmaline thread. But now that I have it on my finger I figured it deserved it’s own post!

My hubby knows I’ve been dreaming of a paraiba ring for a long time. I recently had a pendant made from Yvonne that had a small paraiba in it and the color is so beautiful. I would send him pics when Yvonne would post a new one to get his thoughts but I would never pull the trigger and buy. One of my favorite ones was a sugarloaf cab. It seemed to be a good size for the price. I sent him the link but then when I checked a few hours later it had sold. Oh well, happens a lot. But I was bummed.

Fast forward to last week and I’m thinking of creating a small ring with a paraiba in it along with other family stones to match my pendant. I mentioned it to hubby who shot it down immediately which isn’t like him. Especially considering how much he liked my pendant and knowing I would probably pay for doing a small ring myself.

I must have looked sad because he then goes, well I already got you something for our anniversary (in June). He asked if I wanted to see. At first I said no, but then curiosity got the best of me (and I could tell he kind of wanted to show it to me!). Turns out that exact same day, Yvonne had sent him pics of the ring he had created with her! And wouldn’t you know it, it had the sugarloaf cab in it!!

I cannot believe my husband did a CAD project! I haven’t even done one, too cheap to pay a CAD fee lol. I think they did a great job! He asked for a more antique feel and had it incorporate small color change garnets which is his birth stone (tourmaline is mine). And kudos to Yvonne too, I know it isn’t her standard style and I think it came out beautifully. I love how simple it is, allowing the stone to really shine.

Here are Yvonne’s pics of the ring and stone. Paraiba is 1.97 cts and 8mm, from Brazil.

Now onto my pics!! I seriously cannot believe how gorgeous the stone is and the setting is perfect. The color is unreal and looks pretty in all lights. In the sun, the inclusions make it look like it has sparkles in it. It’s a beautiful turquoise color and reminds me of the Caribbean.

It’s a gorgeous stone & setting! I love the color-change garnets.

And your husband was so thoughtful. My husband is a lovely man, but I can’t imagine him planning that many months ahead and having a CAD done. Just not in his wheelhouse.

Such a beautiful ring, I love that it incorporates both of your birthstones in it. I also love that your husband did this for you . Such an incredibly thoughtful gift! :kiss2:

Beautiful! Lucky you!

 This story is so funny! I’m glad it was a great surprise. You have a vibrant ring and a sweet husband.

That is such a sweet and thoughtful gift. The paraiba has an amazing glow and your husband is a real gem!

Beautiful, your husband did so well!

What a beautiful and special ring! Your husband is so thoughtful. I’m impressed he ventured out on his own to create such a beauty for you!

Thank you all so much!! Yes my husband is definitely a keeper! He is always super thoughtful, but this truly blew me away. I'm glad he had more guts than I do about just going for it. I feel bad I ruined his surprise but I am certainly glad to have it on my finger :appl:

Gorgeous!:love::love: And so thoughtful and meaningful. :kiss2:
And that color is TDF. Love everything about this ring. Everything.

Congratulations on a beautiful ring and a fantastic hubby!!

Wonderful surprise from your hubby! The color looks so fresh! Enjoy wearing your new ring :))

Wow, both your husband and your ring are pretty awesome!

First, what a fantastic surprise from your DH! :kiss2: My hubs won’t touch CADs with a 10ft pole so I’m truly impressed. :mrgreen2:

Secondly, that baby is perfect! I love the setting style and how he incorporated his birthstone in there too. Plus, she really glows under the sun. Like damn! :cool2:

Now a quick word of advice: Paraiba addiction is REAL!!! Guard that wallet. :Up_to_something2:

Beautiful ring!!! And I can’t believe your husband pulled it off! How sweet!

Holy Cow SapphireMomma! I was admiring that ring! I adore it!! So happy for you! It is incredible and one of my favourite ps rings ever!

I am a big fan of sugarloaf cabs!
It's gorgeous!

Thank you all so much!! I’ve so enjoyed wearing it and looking at it all day. It’s very comfortable on the finger. I’m going to have to restrain myself from wearing it all the time, as I know paraiba’s aren’t the most durable of stones.

I’m even more impressed with my hubby now as I found out he actually sent her inspiration pictures and had a lot to do with the design and went through a few revisions!

Now a quick word of advice: Paraiba addiction is REAL!!! Guard that wallet. :twisted2:

I can totally see myself becoming addicted! There is so much variety with paraibas and they are all special in their own way ❤️❤️

Thank you so much @ilovegemstones! Such a wonderful compliment! I’ve ogled so many pieces on here, especially in the paraiba thread. It’s awesome to have one to contribute!!!

Wow...he did great!! I love sugarloafs and this piece is truly a gift of love and thoughtfulness. Maybe you can start a new hobby of designing jewelry together ;)2 Congrats on your upcoming anniversary to such a wonderful partner and going from "always wanting a paraiba" to owning two!

Wow!
Great story and beautiful ring, enjoy!

Congrats! You have a great husband!

How do you call this blue crushed ice cream? It looks like it. Yum!:lickout:

Omg I am obsessed. The story, the color, the stone, the ring. All of it!!! :kiss2::kiss2::kiss2:

Love the story as much as I love the ring! :kiss2: Both your new paraiba ring and your marriage are TDF!

I like that description!! Maybe blue Italian ice or a snow cone too!! People always say the inclusions in paraibas make them more beautiful and I never really understood it until now!

Did you know--the flecks inside a Brazilian paraiba are actually gold? This is why, despite being more included, Brazilian paraiba glow more than their African counterparts. :mrgreen2:

That is so cool! I didn’t know that. Makes sense though because it sure does glow! I probably shouldn’t wear them while driving because I kept getting distracted!!
