I didn''t think I''d be posting much on Rocky Talky anymore, but my BIL is planning to propose and has no real idea how to spend his $2K budget. He seems pretty settled on getting a round in a white gold solitaire (maybe something Tiffany-esque?) but hasn''t thought much about color, clarity, size, etc.
My SIL-to-be is petite and always put together - a New Yorker working in design. I think she''d want something classy and timeless, but I don''t think he wants to ask because it''s (hopefully) going to be a surprise.
So, where would you spend $2K on an engagement ring? I was thinking H-I, SI1 as being good benchmarks to shoot for, and that as much of the budget as possible should go into the stone. Mine is an H and BIL said "it looks good to me." I don''t think he realized how many variables there can be to consider when opening this Pandora''s box! He was all set to go to a store, pick one out, and buy one, but I''m trying to save him from getting mauled...
Your advice is greatly appreciated!
P.S. We are in NYC, so we can definitely go to ERD or another local vendor to check out stones if needed.
