I'm in the process of designing my engagement ring and know pretty much what I want, which is a round center stone (~1ct) with three small melee diamonds positioned exactly like this (except the band would be in white gold):
However, I work in a hospital so I'm worried that the prongs will catch on my patients' clothes or bed sheets (as a surprising number of my colleagues have experienced). I've heard 6-prongs can be more secure, but most 6-pronged rings I see have the prongs set at the 12/2/4/6/8/10 o'clock positions. I rarely see prongs at 11/1/3/5/7/9 o'clock positions! I can't find any examples of six claw prongs at the 11/1/3/5/7/9 o'clock positions with melee diamonds, so here's the closest thing I could find (though not claw prongs):
Given the intended design of the ring (round centre stone with three melee diamonds on the sides), how would you position the six claw prongs? Thanks in advance!
