I was given a bunch of jewelry a couple years ago, amongst the items was this solitaire that I pulled out the other day and cleaned. It looks to me like an oec-trans cut diamond, and it definitely has a yellow tint to it. it measures about 5.3mm, I'm guessing around 50pts?

How do you think this would look set as a bezel pendant solitare? Too small? What color gold would look best, I have no experience with warmer colored diamonds? any guess what color it may be?

here's a few pics, fyi the (eeek very dirty!!!) stud is E color and .69 pts.

Ohhh, lucky YOU! I think it would make a great pendant! I think you could maximize size by setting it in a halo pendant setting, though. Something like Beverley K would be pretty, too. Wish somebody would give me a bunch of old diamonds!

Very nice. I think it would make a beautiful pendant.

me too!!!

but yeah, I think it would make a great pendant! it's gorgeous! please do come back and post pics of the final product, whatever it ends up being :) I personally don't think it's too small for a bezel pendant but there are a lot of pendant options out there, see what you like the best!

Looks like it probably is an OEC, though its hard to tell for sure in the pics. (Earlier transitional would be my other guess, but likely an OEC in my opinion.) It's lovely and a fabulous size for a pendant.

If you want to play up the color, I'd bezel it in yellow gold with millgrain. If you want to play it down, PT or white gold would be lovely- my personal opinion is that OECs with some warmth look their whitest when bezeled in white metal with no melee to contrast with them. I also think rose gold would be a fun option too- it would likely make it look more off-white than a white metal would, but IMO would be lovely too. If you want a more elaborate antique style setting to add some size, Greenlake Jewelers does killer engraving and I love some of their pendant designs. (They are a bit pricey though- but amazing, amazing engraving work and unique designs.) I don't think it's at all small for a bezel pendant, I think it's a great size- i think most would consider that size range, frankly, to be the perfect size for a daily wear bezel pendant. Not so big it's not perfect with casual, but enough size to be quite dressy too. Classic, in other words!

Very hard to guess color in pics- especially when it's in YG. K? L? Maybe a bit lower even? Something like that would be my guess- that's a very common color range for OECs, anyway. Have fun with your new beauty!
