Hello wise pricescopers!

OK, if you were going to wear only a plain wedding band, how wide would you go? Let's say your fingers are short.

I'd like a plain band to wear when I'm not feeling blingy, and the 2mm I have looks a bit....something....all by itself. For reference, here's a picture of my short fingers with wedding and e/anniversary rings.

2mm platinum band by itself.

Any opinions welcomed!!!
Thanks!

I have short chubby fingers and I have a 4mm band it is somewhat uncomfortable to me, I think 3mm would be perfect!

If that's a 2 mm band on you, I wouldn't say you have short fingers in the slightest!

I'd honestly go and try bands on before I bought, but it looks like you and I have fingers of similar length. I'd feel comfortable going up to 4 mm, especially if the band was comfort-fit (makes a HUGE difference in terms of comfort).

You need to try before you buy!

I personally like about 6mm for a really good statement piece stand alone. Don't own one yet, but would sure like one!

Dreamer, here's the rub--I have a platinum 6mm comfort fit, and it just looks too wide on my fingers! I wear a 7, maybe if my finger were more slender it would look different. I'm wondering if it can be shaved or smooshed down to 4mm, since I already own it and don't wear it! When we ordered it after my original set fell apart, my tall long fingered husband said, "mine's 6mm and it works for me...." Platinum is so darn expensive, and I hate having something that valuable just sitting in the jewelry box, KWIM?

I should have tried on several widths to see what's best. Alas, that was pre-pricescope!

Advice?!?

I'll go for 4mm if it was me.

I really would like a plain band to wear, too. I was thinking 4mm might be a good standalone size. And yes, I absolutely would ask a good platinum bench person if they can make your 6mm ring into 4mm!!!

I'm probably in the minority here, but I'd order several different widths in stainless steel and see what struck my fancy. For only a few bucks each you could wear them as long as you wanted to decide on the optimal width and then know before you commit. I'd not alter a 6mm band without *knowing* for sure I was going to love the outcome. Good luck!

I had a similar issue. I have longer fingers, but wanted to figure out what width scattered band to get. I went to ebay and bought a total of 3 tungsten bands. First one was 3mm...too skinny to wear on it's own, got a 5mm, a bit too wide to wear w/my ering but awesome to wear on its own, then got a 4mm, still too thin for on it's own but better for wearing w/my ering. I didn't spend too much (ok was like $40 total for all three and shipping for each time), and I have a variety of rings to try on. I will probably go with the 5mm or a 4.75mm from a local jeweler for the band, but I found out what would be best for me. :D

So, I'd say get a few varied widths to see which is best for YOU. :D

I have prety short fingers, and I typically wear just a 1mm band most days. I like the look :)

I have a 5mm plain band that I wear by itself. I really love the width and how it looks by itself.

I decided to go for a 5.5 mm for a wedding band to wear alone. You do realize that you are not limited to full mm when it comes to custom made bands? You could have it shaved down to somewhere in between.

I think getting a few in diffrent widths and try them, is a very good suggestion before you have your band altered.

I have short fingers too - i own a 3mm and a 4mm band - i like both, but i prefer the 4 mm for a stand alone ring. I got a comfort fit band and it's amazingly comfortable!

My wedding band is 3mm, and does sometimes seem a bit thin on it's own. I also have a 5mm one I wear as a stand alone, and my "camping" tungsten band is 5mm. I'd also suggest ordering some in silver/stainless/titanium or whatever and wear them for a few days to decide on the perfect width for you.
