how to take pictures of e-ring

I tried doing a search and couldn''t come up with anything, so any help would be appreciated.

I have a canon rebel xti and i can''t figure out how to take close up pictures of my rings. Any ideas??

I have the same camera and had a bit of trouble with close-ups for a bit too. Make sure you have a lot of light and set the dial to macro (the flower icon). I played around with the distance from the ring and the amount of light until it looked right.

I have a different camera but... I use the macro(flower) setting and I find I can get more detailed photos if I turn the flash off. The flash reflects from my stone too much. That makes it harder to focus on my Nikon but with the flash off if I can get an if focus shot it''s great.
